I am currently playing low no limit games online and I find it help me work on my patience in waiting for a good hand and using positional raises, but I am finding i am breaking even rather than turning a profit in the  low limits, However I always turn a very goo profit in the live cash games I think more so bocause I can execute a rebluff by reading the players live.

Ok the point of the post is, is low nlh a good training ground and thats all for working on your patience and recognising your spot, or can money be made in the lower levels. I find that the mugs in the game playing any ace, or any paint with no regard for a kicker somehow suck out.

Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

Money can be made in these games with the right strategy but the variance is often higher than the higher games due to people playing weaker hands and outdrawing. It does give you a fairly decent grounding for the higher limits but make sure you can beat these games regularly before you choose to move up.

THis s what i am finding, I have been keeping records at this level and the graph is looking like a toblerone huge swings, I.E i was up £172 in one sitting and i lost £50 of it due to poor players crackin kings with garbage and major suck outs, I know that can be the nature of the game, but the only reason i can see for low nlh games is for practice at the moment.

The standard is not that much different at higher levels, you still get people calling raises with garbage, some very successful players do very well playing that way.

Again this is one of the main reasons I prefer Live games, as the live games you can represent with a lot more success, also in a card room your opponents know how to read he board, I find this is a skill sadly lacking in online play.

Kudos to the guys who can play the garbage cards and win, its a skill i have yet to master, Although i would have hoped that the higher levels would be a bit more stable online.

it depends on how you define higher levels . at the top levels the good players will not be thinking too much about what cards they hold but a lot more about how they can win , they will often call a rock's raise with a marginal holding knowing they are behind but willl be able to outplay them in the pot later on.

well I tend to start off on a table getting a good table image, so people know when I go all in or when i raise I have the goods ( or so they should think ) Yet after a solid hour of tight aggressive poker there is always a moron who calls your AK all in with bottom pair when you have top and sucks out on the river, and busts you. The only positive I can take from this is it helps me develop a higher tilt threshold.
