Meanwhile bold moves from Richard Dawson, who checked a flop to Peter Wood, who bet 150. Essy Jahanpour made it 550 -- and then Dawson made it 1725 to go. Wood dwelled up for some time, making little noises that sounded a bit like a pterodactyl, and then passed, followed by a swift pass from Jahanpour too.

Our latest casualty is Javed Iqbal, whose flush draw failed to come good against Ganesh Rao's set of eights.

Sheriff Ledger updates please guys, tyvm

Sheriff's been an absolute dynamo so far, blitzing his table with an exciting series of folds.

In his own words..."I'll play a hand eventually!"

He is brandishing his sheriff's badge and cowboy hat with pride though, so we can expect him to lay down the law sooner or later.

Curtis Ledger - currently 5,100.

One of Peter Wood and James Browning raised to 500 and the other called; either way, they each got 500 chips in pre, with Wood in position.

They saw a curious Two Diamonds two spades Two Clubs flop and Browning bet out 1k. Wood, with barely a pause in his monologue concerning how Willie Tann went broke with that flop in the WSOP, announced all in. Browning dwelled up while the Wood momlogue continued. "What if I have queens?" asked Browning. Eventually he folded, and Wood showed him pocket kings for his trouble.

Browning down to under 4k.

Yes, so far I've seen him do some daring things, like limp in to see a flop and then fold to a raise. Still time, though...

That's Not Very Naess

Kjetil Naess has bitten the tournament dust, his set of nines no good against the new slimline Jerome Bradpiece's straight (photos of mini-Jerome coming, I'm afraid we're on lame slow dongle connections all day).

There's a healthy amount of table chatter ringing round the confines of the Luton G Casino poker room, but one voice that can be heard above all the others is that of renowned motormouth Andreas  "Greekfish" Andreou.

A few moments ago, a pot broke out which caused much merriment amongst the table.

With Peter Wood making a raise to 300 from middle position, he watched James Browning make the call from the small blind.

"Not you again!" chided Wood, who has already clashed with Browning on a few occasions.

"I keep getting hands!" protested Browning!

The dealer dealt out a flop of and the two players checked it down to see a turn card of .

"I already know what you are going to do now" said Wood. "You always check the flop then bet the pot on the turn."

"Oh!" said James. "What is the pot?" he asked quizzically and counted out the 700 there.

"I bet 700 then!"

After a long period of contemplation and sighing, Wood laid down his hand and Browning generously offered to show him what he had for 1 pound. Wood scrabbled frantically in his pockets for the money but could only pull out wads of notes and 45p.

With Browning on the verge of mucking, the kind masseuse Sam jumped to the rescue providing Wood with the monies.

Browning gratefully accepted the pound before showing down a trip-tastic A-Q!

"Give me a bucket to throw up in" laughed Wood on seeing his foe's dominant hand...

Groanin' Cronin

The alliteratively named Cornelius Cronin is another of the early casualties with the 93 runners already distilled down to 80 hopefuls in the early levels.

Also out in Michael Hynes.

"Did he go out with 5-7" asked a mischievous Jon Raab as Dana merely stared blankly at the GUKPT supremo.

Bayliff's Chips are Seized

Chirpy scouser Steven Bayliff has seen Jeff Kimber collect on his debts.

Jeff told me he'd open-shoved a few times for his last 1,500 chips before Jeff eventually made the call with K-Q. I beleive Bayliff had A-T so was marginally ahead but Jeff runs good and he got there, leading Steven to leave the table with a small scowl.

"That's twice you've done that but nevermind..."

Jeff swept up the chips quietly with a small smile, up to 17k or so now...
