Blinds are 150/300.

Your UTG with 23k with the average around 18.5-19k mark.  You have been semi active in last level after a tight start to the day.  The table has been pretty ABC with only an active calling station to your left.

UTG with  and raise to 900 expecting to get action to your left.  As expected UTG+1 (5.9k) flats as does Colin Wu (Edinburgh Gala Champ) (18k), from what I know of Colin he likes to play flops in position and therefore his range is pretty big.

Flops is  .  At this point I expected UTG +1 to shove on me if I lead weak, so I led for 1300 for UTG+1 to shove for 5k total.  Colin insta flat calls on the button and its left to you.

Whats your action and what do you put him on?  Im pretty certain were still beating UTG+1.

obv its shove or fold. need to know more about colin, would he generally 3b an utg open w JJ? I assume he would.  Given he insta flats and doesnt even think about raising, i probably ship and try and fade his flushdraw, as obv only 33 and QJ are out there beating you. Sadly you have no fold equity but stacks arent really deep enough to do much else.

Failing that, if you think you have a huge edge on the table, fold.

Don't you just hate it when you lead out with a plan to snap off the guys all in and some git comes along to spoil your fun.

I can't really see what you're beating tbh. He might just do this with AQ hoping that you'll check it down with him but I don't know what sort of player he is.

If you flat you're going to have another decision pretty soon and possibly a more difficult one if a heart comes down.

He could have a flush draw but I think he shoves with that to make sure he gets to see both cards.

If you shove you're praying that he's got AQ or KQ because he's not passing no matter what he's got (unless he's crap).

You're not a huge favourite over a flush draw especially K10 or KJ but a flush draw is about the best you can hope for.

You shouldn't discount the possibility that the calling station may have you beat anyway so you might only be playing for a side pot. (albeit sizable side pot).

I think you have to pass. You've still got plenty of chips and it's early days so no need to be a hero here.

fwiw I think he's got K10 or KJ hearts.

Thanks for the input guys.

I ended up taking it and then folding.  I couldnt see what Colin could flat call to the bet and the re raise for a 1/4 of his stack that I was beating.  I folded UTG shows KQ and Colin on button had  for 2nd pair and flush draw.  K spiked river so I would have lost.

I asked COlin about it later and to my amazement he still swear he folds if I shove on him.  Im still not convinced he would have done but still.

Really tough hand with the most awkward effective stack size to contend with.

I think I would probably pass too. The hand he has is as good as even against yours, and the only conceivable hand that is in bad shape against you is ace-queen.

I don't think he will be passing here to the all-in. I think it's most likely he has convinced himself in theory that he would, but I can't see how it can make any sense in practice to decide to play Jh8h to a pre-flop raise and ever be passing it on this flop.

The thing that interests me is- what did you make of such a quick call? It could be that he is playing the pot as if it is heads up, but, if not, this is definitely sending a message to you. The most likely one seems to be that he is trying to represent confidence that he does not have. This would be the only thing to persuade me to go with the hand. Did you read anything into it at the time?

good to share a table with you at DTD over the weekend Neil, you have a great table presence.  Did you feel sorry for the guy who called your preflop shove with 77 who started wailing when you hit your overcard with your 68

The only thing that really worried me was the way he called it.  There was no question of how much im playing or anything, he simply wasnt interested to which I took as a big sign of strength.  I actually put him on top 2 or flopped bottom set.  I didnt even think about the pair and flush draw as assumed he would shove on me with a heavy draw himself.

Thanks :-) I had a good night but I really struggle up at DTD for some some reason, as for the guy I didnt feel bad at all lol.  He called twice with marginal hands and I sucked out twice before having a monster cracked.

I would have felt bad if it wasnt for the 18472949817648 "f" words that cvame out of his mouth and the constant abuse of punching himself full whack rotflmao
