When connecting a monitor to a laptop is it important for the monitor to have the same resolution as the laptop?

I have a laptop with 1280 x 800 but most monitors I have been looking to buy have a better resolution.

Also is 22 inch a good size or is it better to go for 24?

Cheers

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.
