Unnoticed until, oddly, right when this wince-inducing hand was played lay none other than Ali Mallu.  As soon as I got ready to snap the ubiquitous and dangerous living poker randomiser, his chips were over the line in the small blind after Fran Creed had raised and been called by the button.  She called pretty fast, and the button got out of the way:

Fran:
Ali Mallu: Two Diamonds

Flop:
Turn:    "Don't do it to me," murmurs MissC as the possibility of the flush draw pops out...
River:

A sad Fran is just covered in chips, and walks away from the table, back to the table and away more permanently having suffered what many before her have.  Mallu's feathers aren't even slightly ruffled, though, pulse barely risen at the prospect of busting, nor at accomplishing the outdraw.  Peaceful.

Table 27 appears to be busting its members more frequently than many of the others - in just five minutes of rail hovering in its vicinity two players hit the felt and made way for new faces (who don't look delighted by some of the stacks growing on there).  Latest casualty - Con Cronin, pictured in red kit next to James Williams (who's one of the decent stacks >25k).

Garish Hat of Day:

He - Cronin - had apparently been involved in a bit of banter with boisterous Sadikia Tapper, whose chips are even healthier on around 36,000.  "He's easy to get going," confides Tapper, before sharing some blow-up stories and pausing to call after Con Cronin, "Tell me what the weather's like on the way back to Brum!"

Rich Hare is out.

Tom Rutter is on a nice 45k stack or so. A double with sixes vs A-K before he got it all-in with A-A against Alex Martin's A-K. The table has got a bit more interesting now though with Sam Trickett and Dave Jones moving in to his left.

Rick Trigg has lost about 7k to Peter Baird after the latter rivered a Queen in an A-K/A-Q battle. He's still on around 30k.

30 Min Break

It looks, amazingly, like Pete Linton has made it to another dinner (or snack, tea, whatever) break as CL with 55k.  His table, though, isn't all that far behind - there are big stacks on all corners and more chips on Table 34 than probably two average tables tonight.  Earlier it looked like Michael Millar would be the one treading on Linton's toes, but with only a few thousand above average at the end of level 10 (c.25k) he's behind Darren Hodson (43,000) and Ken Wheatley (38,000) both also on his table (pictured).

Maria is out. A-K vs 3-3 then A-9 vs Tom Rutter's K-Q. Quick and brutal.

Tom Rutter -- 50k
LeKnave -- 25k
Montadoo -- 32k
Julian Thew -- 16k

Is this your man?  If so he's on a perfectly respectable 14,500.

Short break. Saw Tim Blake who simply rolled his eyes as I noted his 6k stack or so, looks like it's been a tough and grindy day.

These people are still in too:

Steve Jelinek - 13,700
Ali Mallu - 27,000
Jonathan Spinks - 28,350
Raymond Norton - 26,000

Also sat on the same table are now three of the probably fewer-than-six ladies still in the tournament.  Suzanne Gilbert (seat 2; hat; 9,000), Paula Agnew (seat 3; excellent spur-of-moment grinning; 10,175) and Kim Bain (seat 5; designer-wallpaperesque shirt and cool glasses; 8,200).  I only recognise from previous updates about a quarter of the female contingent of the field, and I take this as an excellent sign for the growing numbers of female players.  Women lurkers - get to DTD for the next one- it's fun.

Me to Mad Turk, "Are you still in?"

Mad Turk, "Yes."

Me, "How?"

Mad Turk, "I have no idea. Me and Colchester Kev are the two best players in the world, but I am, I think, slightly better than him."
