MTT...critique my line in blind on blind?

Don't have HH but I'll copy paste from my blog as I remember the hand....
It's the $35k on ipoker. 1385 runners. Around 100 left.
Blinds are 1600/3200 with an ante of 200 (I think). My stack is 85k. It passes round to the small blind with 42k, who makes up. I check my J8. Flop comes 10,9,4. SB checks and I bet 4.5k. He bumps it to 14.5k and I move in. He calls with K10 and I hit an 8 on the turn but brick the river.
Should I raise pre? Check behind the flop? Pass when he c-raises? Be interesting to know what people think of this as I've had all sorts of opinions from people on msn.

Any history with the sb blind on blind might be relevant. But with no info to go on, I like the check behind on the flop. I don't like going broke in a blind on blind pissing competition with 2 mediocre hands in an unraised pot. But plenty do. You have an opportunity to get there with a nicely disguised hand, admitedly it might be for a smaller pot though than playing it fast. But paradoxically, as played, once you get raised to 14.5k I don't mind your push.

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k. “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi. Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

So open fold from the big blind or shove 26.5bbs?

i'd take a solid pot control approach here due to stack sizes plus no info on villain so check behind would be my line, call a small bet on the turn as played , if he checks turn then i'd still check turn and call a reasonable river bet if he leads...i,m just looking to get to see the turn + river as cheap as possible hoping to hit our straight or river trip 8's etc...

Difficult to give a quality answer when the most important question of images is unknown. The fact sb villain c-raises tp suggests hero has been relatively aggressive (sb figures hero bets if he checks it...and hero doesn't disappoint). If hero does have an aggressive image then I wouldn't recommend betting the draw, especially if sb villain isn't a weak c-fold type player. I would prefer to check the flop myself (unless playing off a tight image), but as played I wouldn't be betting to fold so am happy to get it in.

^^LOL
Like I said on MSN, I think you played this fine, but a reasonable amount of the time I like a check behind on the flop...
