Just back from a course down south...

N had to add what a great pub...the food was spectacular...I've never seen portions so big..EVER...lol ,and great value


very highly recommended and cant wait to go again..my steak was cooked to perfection...

The Red Lion is a great pub.  Much better than the high street chain rubbish that we mostly have down here.  I used to go in there regularly as a student, it's got an amazing history.  It dates from the 12th century and was once used as a courtroom.  I don't think that there's a straight wall, floor or ceiling in the whole building.  It's got a great atmosphere when they have live music in there (if they still do).

And clearly the food is great too.   Grin

i have lived in soton for 15 years and never been in there, may have to give it a try
