I know these have been done before but still funny

HR Department
Celtic Football Club
95 Kerrydale St
Glasgow
G40 3RE

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you today in response to the recent resignation of Gordon Strachan to not only inform you of my intention to apply for the role as First Team Manager, but also to request that I am shortlisted for the position.

Although my name is not widely known in football circles I am sure I have the relevant experience, enthusiasm and drive to take Celtic Football Club to new heights.

My love of the beautiful game started around 7 years old when I was selected to be striker for St Fillians primary school “B” team, a position I held until leaving said school 4 years later. I never went for trials in Secondary School. I have maintained my low level of fitness with the odd game of ‘fives’ since then.

More important of course than my footballing ability is, of course, my tactical knowledge. I have been playing various football manager games for many years now, starting with Football Masters on the ZX Sectrum right up to more recent incarnations like Football Manager 2009 on the PC. In fact in the most recent version Football Manager 2009 I have not only recently completed a treble winning season 08-09, but reached the quarter final of the European Cup. Only last week as I was in my bedroom donning my suit to play the Scottish Cup Final I was dreaming of how it would be to lead the real team out on the Hampden surface. I can assure you when this is the case I will not only be wearing my suit but I will probably put a flower in the button hole.

I am aware that zonal marking has been an issue in recent years and can assure you that I have a full knowledge of this particular tactic mainly due to being forced to play it in my many games of Subbuteo as a child. It is unlikey this will be a tactic I will employ but if I do I will ensure I have explained it fully to the team to ensure they are not running around like headless chickens at set pieces.

I am also fully aware of the financial constraints clubs are under these days and Celtic in particulars insistence on balancing the books. I have therefore included a first class stamp with this letter so that you can forward my interview date at no cost to yourselves.

In the unlikey event that am I not placed on the shortlist for First Team Manager, I would also like to point out that I have bar experience and would be available for functions.

I look forward to your reply.

Yours Faithfully

They never even took me up on the bar work offer

Tony Adams quoted in paper - "It works for me and Celtic is an unbelievable club, you have a 50 per cent chance of winning something up there."

I'd say more like 5% with an alcoholic donkey in charge!

Hey .. well just posting something about some of the latest football rumours , after martinez rejecting celtic and hearing the latest that they are considering offering tony adams the job it is clear we are lowering our standards  as naka is heading to spain and big jn thinking of a move home with fc twente and psv looking to put in an offer he will probly be off aswell , other than the dundee united keaper wich is a done deal  celtic are looking to purchase simon cox from swindon for around 3.5 mill  for me again standards are low and what a waste of money , surwely they can lure better with 60 thousand fans and the oppertunity to facwe some of the worlds greatest  , glasgows other half are trying to finalize a fee for west broms chris brunt with brunt very interested in rangers the deal will most likely go ahead , also they are looking to bid 2 mill for andy driver and take bruno aquire on a free also after rangers enquiring about steven fletcher hibs have gave him a 3 million price tag , i just hope celtic beat them to him i rate fletchy as a real prospect .
down south sergio aquero could be off to liverpool the fee is 24 mill and babel man utd are looking to buy youth in douglas costa ( great young player from brazil ) , with ancelotti in charge of chelsea there are a number of ac milan stars linked with chelsea , i would leave a note on man city but iot would be easier telling u who theyr not trying to buy lol

well i hope i get a few posts with peoples news and views and some rumours on the football . thanks  seanb

I wouldn't expect anyone special taking the Cleltic job. Whats to gain? Any EPL team is more attractive for managers. Having a big following don't mean shit these days.

Champions league football, perhaps the Europa this year, but CL next again.

Thats the major draw for Players and Managers to the Old Firm, that and winning trophies......only a select few teams win anything in EPL (The Big 4 + Everton, Villa, Spurs etc)

I agree in a way, but players are not attracted to the big two unless they aren't good enough for the EPL.

For medicore EPL players and home grown ones playing for Celtic or Rangers still has a huge draw. What is the actual value of winning the league or cup in scotland to Celtic? if you win the double would it prevent the manager from getting abuse from sections of the fans and media?

If the only thing a Celtic manager can do is bring in shite players he knows are not good enough to compete in Europe then what is there to possibly gain for any manager worth his salt taking the position? It's hardly a gateway to bigger and better things.

I would like to see Celtic do what Barca did and promote from within, a recently player who is hungry to succeed and knows everything there is about the club..Fans will be more patient..
