What is it?

Most stains:


Dry Tissues, mop up as much as you can, do not rub
Warm water and tissues, repeat


If it's dye-based, use hairpray on it, mop with tissues. Warm milk with tissues, repeat
Vinegar with tissues, repeat

Edit: Bitumen, use hairspray,then vinegar,  then warm milk with tissues, maybe a toothbrush

By bitumen, do you mean tar-like?

If so, if none of the above work try covering with a sheet of kitchen roll and apply a hot iron. It can sometimes transpose onto the kitchen roll (done similar with paint and it worked)

Looks like quite a sturdy carpet, if all else fails, shave it with a razor.
