Amazingly enough I am in Gauchos right now - dinner and drinks paid for by our software providers.

Steak is awesome. Steak paid for by someone else more so.

If someone else is paying, this should be on the steaking board, not here....

I was in London at the weekend and had a great Greek meze at "Real Greek" restaurant. It's situated 150 yards from the Globe Theatre, very close to the Millennium bridge.

A man of great taste Mr B!

Hi Sushi in Camden is excellent for food.

Sushi is not food, it's pretentious overpriced pap that would benefit enormously from a coating of breadcrumbs, a quick dip in a deep fat fryer, and an 80% reduction in price

Barry mentioned Camden....anywhere there for food isn't going to be the cheapest but Hi is actually very reasonable.

Where have you had Sushi before Tom for you to have such a low opinion of it?

[  ] Tom's had proper sushi

If by "Proper" you mean it smells, tastes, looks and costs about the same as a high class whore's moneybox, then yes, I've had proper sushi.

[  ] you've had proper sushi then.

Sashimi doesn't have a strong odour, in fact most of it doesn't have any odour at all.

I'd also question your high-class whore's moneybox Wink

proper sushi is nice from japan and hong kong

the stuff u get from uk isnt great or fresh.

uk sushi is not good
and its made by women which is a no no

maybe not as good as Japan but there are some good places in London.

Strangely now you've mentioned it I've never been to a sushi place and seen a woman preparing the food. Why's that?

women dont make sushi because there hands are too warm compared to the mans
and warm hands will affect the fish taste texture etc etc

Loads of different types, and the quality of what you can get varies dramatically.

The quality of the sushi depends on a number of things.  If you're having sushi with fish, the sashimi (the raw fish) needs to be fresh, and this makes a world of difference.  So it's like any other food, you get good ingredients and you're half-way there. Then there's the rice, which needs to be prepared well (but it's not really rocket science).

Then there are the different varieties of sashimi - my favourites are the standard tuna (maguro), sea bream (tai), octopus (tako) and in my opinion the best sushi is the fatty tuna (toro) - which is often the most expensive as well.  Good sushi is amongst the best food I've ever had.
