Quite ridiculous ... If the ref sees it as a pen, he has to give it ... if it turns out that he is later found to be wrong then players get a 2 match ban ... so what when someone dives in the box and appeals for a pen but the ref says play on ?  does that player get a 2 math ban as well ? or only if the ref gives it ?

Total bollocks imo ... ref's make mistakes week in and week out ... you cannot suddenly prosecute 1 player for this without first announcing it pre season and having a fixed rule.

Unfortunately someone of the stature of Ronaldo will never get punished by Uefa. They simply dont have the balls.

ARSENE WENGER today called for video technology to be trialled in England as he insisted replays must be introduced to help referees cut out cheating and injustice.
Wenger has joined Sir Alex Ferguson, who recently came out in favour of replays in certain circumstances, in claiming football must use any available technology.

However, he insisted officials also need to see the potential benefits of a ‘video referee’ sitting in the stands to review any contentious decisions on monitors.

Recent penalty decisions, including Mike Riley’s failure to award Liverpool a spot-kick against Chelsea at the weekend, have sparked the Arsenal manager’s call. Wenger said: "You cannot accept it when justice is not being done. Whether it is for Arsenal or against Arsenal, I don’t mind, because I love football first.

It WAS a dive it WAS wrong. Part of me actually wanted him to miss the penalty as it had little if any effect on the tie that is why I find it even more strange that he went down. I think he was on his way down because he thought that the keeper would touch him so it wouldnt look like a dive.

I still think banning him for 2 games is a bit harsh because not everyone that dives is going to get banned. If a player dives in the centre circle to win a free kick nothing would be said, he wouldve decieved the ref, which is the charge against Eduardo.

Every team has had players that have dived at some point it only when it goes against your team that you really feel pissed off about diving.

Ive been offline for a few days and this is the 1st time ive read this thread and im guessing that some posts have been edited and maybe even som removed. If what ive read is right on page 1 of this thread Rod seems to say that he hopes Eduardo suffers a serious injury again and to be honest Rod thats just way out of order if that isnt what you said then i apologise for the misread

Possibly Dan I was a bit harsh, but it was a direct reply to a feeble attempt at excusing the dive because Eduardo was possibly "simply anticipating the challenge and avoiding another broken leg" - if he was trying to avoid being hit why did he leave his legs in? Maybe I misread Karabiner's humour though - but going by his replies on here I doubt it.

I'll be honest, when a player produces a shocking dive like that & then gets injured later I tend to think 'karma', so if it does happen I'll not feel too sorry for him, more a sense of satisfaction - probably a bad reflection on me, but I can live with it. Do I wish it on him now, not really - it was said in the heat of the moment.
