From the Stars Blog update thingies

Pokernoob had a tough decision. Theres a 100k in the pot in a blind war and on the river theres a A98T4 board. Pokernoob checks and Roland de Wolfe bets 95k into the pot. Pokernoob tanks for a bit and then makes the call.

Roland de Wolfe shows Pokernoob one K and says K high. Then Pokernoob just looked at him stone cold and says show both. Roland de Wolfe doesn't want to!

He closes the king card and puts BOTH cards forcefully into the muck, pushing away the dealers hand. The cards touched the muck and were even under other cards.

Instantly Pokernoob slams open Q6 for Q high and says YES!

LOTS OF CONSTERNATION. Roland de Wolfe goes like my hand is better! Floor is called over and after a short discussion the floor manager declares Roland's hand dead and the pot of 300k is shipped to Pokernoob.

Pokernoob aka Tobias Reinkemeier

as reported by Poker Listings

We just saw emotions flare between Roland de Wolfe, Tobias Reinkemeier and the tournament staff. On a board of Ah de Wolfe fired 80,000 into a pot of about 150k.

Reinkemeier made the call and Roland, thinking he was beat, showed a king and tossed his hand in the muck. Reinkemeier had queen high but, more importantly, he had his cards in his hand and not in the muck.

The tournament staff was called and despite the fact that the dealer had pulled the cards out of the much they awarded the pot to Tobias.

We're pretty sure it was an angle-shot, but it would have taken a strong read to know Roland was so weak he would auto-muck his cards. Calling with queen-high because he thought it was the best hand just doesn't seem plausible.

Roland should table his hand as he made the last aggressive action I think. If he mucks then his hand is dead.

Interesting how 'Stars & Listings report the story, essentially, wholly differently.

In the 'Stars version, you think, "eek, ugly", but in the Listings account, it reads quite normally, Roland just boobed by mucking prematurely.

he mucked prematurely in both versions, entirely his own fault. the caller is perfectly entitled to insist on him showing both cards

Agreed - but note the "slant" in the 'Stars version.

The guy called to see Roland's hand and Roland didn't show it.

Obviously the other guy wins, it isn't in question surely. (It isn't any sort of angle shoot.. just an incredible call)

Roland must just be pissed off at his own stupidity and taking out on the floorstaff.

bad form by roland really. Table your hand regardless.

Poor form from stars too though to misreport it like that so blatantly intentionally because roland is a ftp pro.

Seriously what is the problem people have with showing a bluff?

When you muck them people know you had f**k all anyway so why not just turn them face up.

I make it a habit now that as soon as someone says call I flip my cards regardless. If I've got nothing I just laugh and say WP nice call you got me.
