New Sky Poker Tour
«
on:
October 06, 2009, 04:17:27 PM »
Just read the following on Tikay's Sky blog. Looks like qualifiers are going to be starting this week - anyone going to have a bash?
Quote
we now have the Sky Poker Tour - SPT - bigger, better, & with a snappier name.
The official Media announcements will be made in the next day or two, but here's a sneak preview for you Community regulars.
An SPT "Landing Page" - similar to the Viva Las Vegas Micro-site we ran last year - will be up & running in the next 48 hours. I'll let you know the URL, & Post a Link, as soon as I know it.
So, a few what's whats.
Where & when?
Leg One - November 7th 2009, G Casino, Manchester.
Leg Two - January 9th, 2010, Aspers, Newcastle.
Leg Three - March 6th, 2010, G Casino, Luton
Leg Four - 8th May, 2010, Alea, Glasgow
Leg Five - 10th July, 2010, Aspers Swansea
GRAND FINAL - 11th & 12th September, 1010 - DTD, Nottingham.
Note that whilst the dates are confirmed, ALL dates are subject to change. This is unlikely, & will be done with reasonable notice if done at all. All legs are on Saturdays, one-day affairs, but the Grand Final will be a 2 Day Event, Saturday & Sunday.
How much? The Seat Value for Legs 1 to 5 will be £100. The Seat Value for the Grand Final will be £250.
How to enter? Entry is by QUALIFICATION ONLY, via Satellites on Sky Poker.com. The Satellites for Leg One will be in the Poker Lobby within the next 48 hours. If you do not qualify for an Event, you are still more than welcome to come along & rail the players, & the Play The Presenter SNG's & such like will be open to all. Seats will not be available for purchase via the Venues.
Presenters? Yup, there will be at least two of the On-Screen Presenters &/or Analysts at every Event. They will rotate, so all being well, all the Presenters & Analysts will attend at least one Leg.
PTP Sit n Gos, at affordable prices, (£5, £10, £20, plus 10% Reg Fees), will run at every Event, as soon as the Presenters exit the Main Event.
For legs 1 to 5, 125 seats will be released for Satellite qualification. 5 Seats will go to the Venue for a Live Super Satellite. A further 20 seats will be set aside for Presenters, Media, Pro players, etc. Should there be any "spare" seats, these will possibly be released via "last-chance" Super Satellites on Sky Poker.com.
We hope that one or two "Pro" players will be at each Leg, this is subject to their availability.
For Leg 6, the Seat Value will be £250. The cap on the field size for the Grand Final will be made known later, but I imagine it will be well over 200 runners. The Prize Pools for each Leg will be Guaranteed.
The Guaranteed value of the entire SPT will be not less than £100,000, & there will be considerable Added Value.
The Top Three players at Legs 1 to 5 inclusive will be awarded with a Grand Final Seat.
All Prize monies for all Legs will be paid direct into Sky Poker Accounts no later than Midnight on the Monday following the Event. Cash prizes will NOT be paid at the Venue.
The Sky Poker Channel 865 Camera Crew will be at every Leg of the SPT, & the content wil be aired on Channel 865.
Sky Poker will run a Web-Based "Live Update" for those unable to attend, so you can follow your Sky Poker buds via that, as it will be an interactive Update.
The Welcome Desk, as used last year, will be at every Leg, just make yourself known upon arrival, & you will be given your name Badge, &, we hope, your Table & Seat Draw, upon arrival.
There will be a free buffet for all Qualifying players at every leg.
There will be regular Blog Updates by myself, & maybe others, & for regular questions, use the Threads I'm about to set up on the "Sky Poker Tour" Board of the Sky Poker Forum.

I see that England goes no further south that Luton again ... sigh.
Adding in travel exes make these just not viable for anyone living on the south coast.

I think I ought to add something here.
It was a little awkward last year, particularly the DTD Grand Final, as it generated a lot of "noise" on blonde. Not unreasonably, some of the Mods & Shareholders got a bit twitchy with me. It was OK, just one of those dilemma situations which happen in life.
This year, it might be a little better, or worse, depending where you sit.
Sky Poker have appointed a Tour Manager, to set up, manage, & run, the Sky Poker Tour. He is perfectly suited to the role, & will do a grand job. Should you have any questions about the SPT, either he or I will answer them.
It is none other than Tighty, & I'm delighted for him, erspecially as it gives him a little income, & I know it will not affect his work here at blonde.

It's odd really. Draw a line between Bristol and London and go South. Thanet aside, nice room, tricky location, there aren't many big poker rooms available to, ahem, us

Yes, & sadly, Brighton Rendezvous was not possible, for reasons outwith our control.

Brighton Grosvenor ?
Bit of a toilet, but good staff and enough space.

Yup. Bit of a toilet was an issue when it was competing with newly specced G Casinos, sadly.

Would have thought Grosvenor would have been keen to use the one in Coventry for this?

Luton is do-able.
So I think I might try for that one, also keeps the cost down only trying to qualify for one of them

True, would have loved to have used them too. Had to pick and choose around geography a bit

The tour sounds good, but not a massive fan of the 'satellite only' entry. Even just a few seats offered to the public would have been nice.
