I agree with this just because you have 13 big blinds and the stack sizes are perfect for you to look like to are raise-folding to a shove. If you have anything less than say 12 big blinds I prefer a shove because thats what you would be doing with all the other hands you choose to play from there.

Lol, good post because I am basically repeating your post

^^Really don't like the open shove in the cutoff with QQ. Standard 2.5x raise and hope someone reshoves on us as we're in a position where it looks like we're stealing.

There is some history here - I have open shoved maybe 5/6 times in last couple of orbits (2 off bubble) wiith short stack so actually quite like my shove here - Suddenly changing tac and raising 2.5 looks very much like a big hand imo - obv he has a big hand here so would of got action anyway but reckon I get looked up lighter especially as bubble just burst and all the nits happy as they just got their money back

fwiw I am very rarely (if ever) rasie/folding <20bb, and would never raise/fold <15bb.

Fair enough man, that makes sense

Although I'm not sure about never raise folding with less than 15bb. I'm sure situations can arise where it's fine to do that...

Not sure about this tbh - I only raise hands that I am prepared to call a shove with with when I have this stack, and try to look for resteal spots instead. I would say rasie/folding 15bb is spewy - but am open to hear arguments against this

You know what i like.. you know what your going to do after your initial action.. ur thinking ..if this happens i'm doing this.. a lot of the time people say raise ..get shoved on then think ..oh fuck ! now what do i do....

I like ur style sir... although mc ( i can grind like a mfcker with 8 bigs ) is right..sometimes u can raise fold 15 bigs..although from what i see of these comps thats prob rare LOL..

Raise folding 15bbs is fine imo as people in these games simply don't exploit it anywhere near enough. The number of times you get flatted is amazing, so will often open hands in the co/btn which I will fold to a shove. I prefer to do it with hands that play well post flop, so would rather open 109s than a2o for example.

What i normally do is have a look at the stacks behind me and if there isn't a solid reg behind me, I am quite happy to raise/fold. You just make enough stealing the blinds/getting your cbet through/ stacking the donks on good flops to make it profitable.

When antes are big towards the end of these games, I would just open shove up to 15bb rather than raise/fold..  getting flatted and playing flops with this stack isn't much fun imo, but maybe this is a leak??

Open shoving 15 BB I think is personally horrible.  You really should have an edge on these players are raising 2.5x when around 15 BB is fine with the intention of stealing.  I prefer to raise with hands that are easy to know where you are after the flop, i.e. 89 and 79 etc rather than A5 etc.

Also I hate open shoving 15 BB from Mid pos with A7 off

Also the times when you rasie with 15 BB's and there is a re-raise followed by a call/another all-in

Raise/folding 15bb isn't utilising your stack most effectively imo - open shoving (when antes are in play) is better because it will force some hands to fold that would of otherwise of reshoved on you (eg small pp's, some Ax hands etc)

I should stress I'm not randomly open shoving 15bb everytime its folded to me - Mostly I tighten my opening range right up and only open hands (to a standard raise) that can call a shove - mostly I will look for resteal spots with 15bb

I will on occasions open shove up to 15bb with antes are in play when my hand is too strong to fold but not strong enough to call a shove - when I have similar stacks behind me that are potentially looking to resteal this is much more the case - I try to always make sure I have some kind of equity when I get called,

Sicillan - I will always try and make a dscision before i do anything, this is something that I really tried to work on  - I dont always get it right of course Smiley

surely if you are tightening up your range to a hand that can call a reshove you want those small pps and Ax trying to reshove you?

yes exactly, I will only open raise (standard 2.5x or whatever) hands that I plan on calling  a reshove with - this means when I call their reshove I should be ahead of their range - this will depend on my perception of the players behind me (how wide they will reshove) and their stack size
