I don't think his fold here is anywhere near as bad as people have suggested. he went for the cr bluff, it didn't work so now he has to decide whether to put in a final 6m chips in what is small +ev situation. the thing is though this is not a cash game, this is not a regular tournament, this is the wsop final table and he will never again be in this situation so there is no long term ev consideration. by folding he preserves his dominant stack and gives himself a great chance at a run at the title. by calling he is giving up a large chunk of his stack most of the time as he can't expect to be ahead here.
it's the perfect example of when we should not take +ev opportunities, i.e. when to do so and lose would affect our ability to take other bigger +ev opportunities in the future
the chat about having a pair is presumably because he was still miked. while he's not the greatest poker player he's not stupid, you could hear the convo on the live feed so there's no doubt that anything he said would get back to the other players
