An amusing hand on Saturday.

On my starting table on Saturday, I have Paul Noonan to my left.  A young lad joins shortly afterwards to Paul's left looking a bit nervous. He’s wearing a smart jacket and Paul immediately greets him with a comment about coming straight from work or from a wedding.  He hardly acknowledges the comment and I put it down to shyness rather than rudeness. I make a comment to Paul about his warm welcome.

Paul has difficulty shuffling the cards and when it’s his turn he asks the young lad to shuffle for him.  It soon transpires that this is his fist time playing live and he too is nervous re shuffling / dealing. So I smiled to myself that it was a bad start for him, having to shuffle the cards twice each orbit!  From his perspective, the worst seat he could have got.  LOL

He soon gets warned about a string bet and although he’s obviously nervous, he takes the advice in good spirit.

Later on, on another table near the final table bubble, at 400/800, he’s under the gun and drops 2 yellow 1k chips into the pot intending to raise, but not announcing raise.  Anthony the dealer, is observing the table and noticed this. I explained that he’s been warned before and his bet was ruled to be just a call. I fold, there’s one other caller and the BB checks.

Flop is 8 8 7 (or similar) and BB leads out for 1,500.  Newbie says “raise” and then picks up his cards and pulls them close to his chin like new players sometimes do. Then he hesitates, pauses for a while, changes his mind and throws his cards into the muck.  We all look in disbelief and of course, the poor chap is held to putting in a minimum raise, whilst his cards remain mucked.  Sad for him, but funny to see, in its own way.

The really funny bit (to me, anyway) is what happened next.   The third player in the hand folded, and Anthony, who is still watching and is a mate of the chap who folded, challenged him with  “Fold ?   Fold ?   I can’t believe you folded there!”

Leaving aside the rights or wrongs of an observer making comments, it was the chaps' reply that made me laugh the most……….. “How could I call after a bet and a re raise?”

Good run of form Alan.

On the 6's - this is easy if you have a system and are self aware enough to know how yr running:

Q1 - 2009 - shove
Q2 - 2009 - fold
Q3 - 2009 - shove

It's Q3, yr running good - clear shove imo

More free tips if you're there tonight :-)

Thanks Glen. Your system makes a lot of sense to me !
Cant be there tonight, but good luck - I hope the system works for you.

I'm playing the Blonde satellite to the LPC event - lets hope I still run good too!

Does the G website display the results of the tournaments? If so, can someone point me in the right direction please.

A field of 81 for last night's £50 deepy turbo would suggest those in charge were right to switch to this format.
The fact that USADennis managed to win it suggests anything can happen. Yikes.
3pts for Thomas for finishing eighth.

What was agreed in the end? That it was 100 runners and over for double points? Can't remember whether it was 80 or 100?

It's proving to be the week of the Lucky, with a fourth final table of the month taking him to within touching distance of Nirvana and on the brink of the elite top nine. Fifth for another six points.

Another final table for Thomas last night, with him finishing fifth in the £30 BH thingy.
Yet again USADennis went deep here and those that have questioned his pokering abilities might need to review their opinions. Or not.
Tonight should see the table shaken up a bit.
Or a lot if I'm able to find out how many tourneys each leaguer actually played 1 January-30 June.
Naming and shaming will start at around midnight if so.

Elsewhere, please let I.Woodley make the final table of the WSOPE. Please please.
