Not much detail in last night's report Chomps, was it a big field?

Yes, a bumper fielf of 15. We were going straight to the final table until Banksy turned up at 8.45pm, and then a few more rolled in.
The Ruppinator and Chuck declined the chance to play, though, the former because there weren't enough players to inflict pain on, the latter because they need 18 players in order to award league points.
I had three key hands:
First hand all in with 8 10 on a Q93 flop. JJ eventually called and I hit runner-runner straight (6 7).
Four-way all in at the final table DURING the re-buy period. My QQ held up, turning the nut flush.
8 10 diamonds on a QJ7 two-diamond flop, straight flush draw v Nobby. Missed. Grrrr.

WP me.

I'd guess that 4th place would put you in the top 25% of the field based on recent numbers ! More points for outlasting 11 players than I got for outlasting 296  Wink

I was hoping for a field of around 50 but what can you do?

I think with fields under 20 full league points shouldnt be awarded, a system that awards more points for a 15 man tourney than a 300+ cant be right..if the league continues next year then a revision of points award should be reviewed...

say under 20 half points...21-40 normal points 41-65 double 66-100 triple 101 + quad.. as to earn points for larger fields takes a lot more grinding and play..

what do we think ?

Interesting reading above..................To be honest at present i am really not enjoying playing at Luton and i am going to take a Break from the place as i can see myself getting into a argument with someone before long..............The Standard of Play as well as person has really deteriorated recently and its affecting the way i play so much, that i myself am playing badly as a result of this ...., i do not feel that i can make a hand stand up.....Win a 50/50 ...... Or dare i say it .........Get to a Final ........................i am Dead money and its been like this for a good couple of Months.

Last year i would final on a lot of occasions but i cannot see this happening. Since i started playing the Newer crowd of Poker Players play a Style i cannot seem to adapt to...............or the game is being played in a way that people call with such a wide range of hands pre flop its hard to Avoid being out drawn..............And as to get someone to pass a Hand, well that does not enter their vocabulary as they are now prepared to wait till the very death despite a bet that should make them pass going into the Pot ...................Bluffing and Continuation bets are in my opinion becoming a thing of the past and Poker now is about staying in till the death to get lucky...........................unless i am prepared to play this style i think that i may as well call it a day and pack it in as there is no pleasure in week in week out getting outdrawn and Fished out of Hands, that i am miles in front in ........................every time i get someone to put their money in when they are a mile behind i am continuously getting outdrawn and i cannot really take the constant bad beats !!     They are becoming relentless and i have had enough for the present..............  The game i Love i am just hating at the moment ........so it its best i take a back seat and let these so called Pros and Wannabees get on with the Wonderful game and tell each other how good they are !!!

Sorry i sound so negative but i suppose its not a nice feeling when the game goes sour and your temperament is being tested to the limit, So it looks like i am the League Whipping Boy and i accept my Relegation from the poker league !!

When i first came to Luton , i loved playing there and when they moved to the G Casino i was really pleased they had a Super New card Room but the last 12 Months i have slowly not enjoyed playing at the G and i do not know why but it seems to have changed in some shape or form, and players that use to go seemed to have moved on  ??  So a break may resolve how i am feeling at present- I do hope so

Listen all the Guys and Girls who post on here are really nice people and they are good Poker Friends and the Forum is a great Venue to speak about the game - Hope you all Keep up the good work you do - as this really is the place to be !!

Hi Ian

I can understand your frustration fully, but there are a few points you have to realise, you play a good solid game and are rarely without the goods and you will find the donkeys who call raises OP with Q 5 o/s will, through the natural order of things give you their chips on a regular basis, but you will have to fight through them outdrawing on you horribly on occasions.. Also maybe try to control the pot sizing a bit with some checks thrown in.. if you have AK on a king high flop and a donkey is keen perhaps check the turn instead of firing another one that maybe commits you as these players are weak and will chase draws to the river no matter what you bet,the free card may sometimes allow them to catch up but in the long run things work out for the better.. I had a horrendous 6 months at the beginning of the year not cashing for 32 tourneys, which not being funny was soul destroying, but Ive adapted a bit put a few new things in and am back in the groove and playing well...Just have to keep the faith m8, we all like seeing you down at the G....

Hi Ian, sad to see you are having a nightmare of it of late. Kukushkin has it right when he talks about sample size though, its impossible to get a feel for your results over such a small sample, statistically they are irrelevant. Just stick with it and maybe just play when you really want to and only in the better comps (i assume there still are some, i havent been in ages).

This happened, me QQ, Gotchy JQ, Banksy AK, donkey JJ
Board came 9 10 K A 3, first four clubs, I had the queen of clubs.
Once I'd quadrupled up I felt confident I would put some daylight between myself and my clowny rival.

£640 if you don't mind.

Yep, rebuys during the final table. It was com innit.
Georgios Michaelos was handing out lessons to young dude at our first table. Said dude got fed up after three rebuys and left. Then another kid gave up after running KK into AA. Then another went. Then they lost two quickly on the other table.

FINAL TABLE EVERYONE.

There was still 20 mins left in level 2. I nursed my 2500 chips until the QQ coup.
There were only seven left at the first break.

I don't think I've ever heard of that happening before - rebuys during a Final!

How long before Luton replace it with something the punters actually want?

I really miss playing at Luton, especially the banter with the regulars, but I'm not playing self-deal 20 quid rebuys, sod that.

I'll be back. But I don't know when.

Not one person has been on to actually congratulate me on last night's result yet. It hurts. A lot.

hmm, not sure it's appropriate to congratulate someone for getting points in a tournament where they were essentially for sale.  League is now bent imo.

How DARE you insult our glorious Leader?

This is the man what got 4th in a 7 runner Rebuy, innit?

Get off his case, he's a mini-ledge.
