Excellent tournament in which the flotsam floated to the top. Grats to the TD for being flexible and letting the players know what was going on.

NEW ADVENTURE..... WITH THE GILLS !!

« Reply #8896 on: December 31, 2010, 09:50:32 AM »

think for future reference at xmas time owing to the increase in runners they should move the start time forward by a couple of hours. with 2/3 of the field left the average was 13bb, which wont improve at any stage. sad way to see a tournament played out.

6.00pm start like Sunday's Tourney would have solved the problem, No reason why they had to start so late seeing the numbers at the Christmas period are always much higher !!

No need then to change the advertised structure, and what made it worse was that they did not announce the changes prior to the start of the comp, well played G Casino !

Comp totally ruined by the unannounced change to the structure      ......       wp Chompy for his input on that!

I, and many others, would have asked for the entry fee back and left,  if we were made aware that Kallum/Wheldon had altered the advertised structure.

The comp should have been played out as per usual with payouts made on a chip count basis if the dreaded 6.00 am was reached!

To have a deep stack tourny become a six/seven BB Shovefest four and a half hours before the Casino was 'forced' to shut was absurd!

What time did it all end?

[ x ] As usual the Casino's/Chompy's interests came before the players in their desire to get home early!

Because it "was New Year's Eve"        ......      I presume the cardroom staff had to clear the poker room out to make ready for the all ticket NYE dancers/spew up merchants/scrappers (they obviously need 14 hours to remove 20 odd tables).

And they wonder why people phuqq off to DTD/Stanleys/The Dog & Duck for a game of cards       .............

So what was the new finish time for the comp? What were the changes to the structure?

So what was the new finish time for the comp? What were the changes to the structure?

After the break the half hour clock became 25 mins, levels were excluded, and it was claimed that the changes had been announced prior to commencement     .....        'funnily' enough none of the players, nor any of the dealers, had heard said proclamation.

As Chompy's post crowing about his win was made @ 6.08 - and he lives in St Neots                                                         ......................................        [   ]   they sure did run close to the dreaded 6.00 am!

That's it. Nearly. All done and dusted. Sort of. But not quite! Oh no...still time to change the structure of the table yet, as is my wont. As soon as the actual yearly totals are known.
I've seen the early annual numbers and it looks like there will be some drastic changes at both ends of the table. In true Kalam style, I'll be announcing these in July.
Comedy scenes last night. Standard Luton nonsense. I said to Kalam something like: "Chances are you'll end up with three tables still going at 5am if it's the normal structure."
Defo the right move to alter things but he probz could have handled it better.
What he maybe should have done was announce pre-tournament: "We're going to drop a couple of levels and make it a 25-minute clock after the first break. We have to close at 5.45am - otherwise I turn into a pumpkin. If anyone wants to buy out, please do so now."
What he actually did was: "Could Aaron Lennon please come to the poker room...Could Aaron Lennon please come to the poker room. Please."
Anyways, it was a five-way chop at 5.15am, feasturing Twiggy, Pete Gardiner, Toni Coe, me and random. I had most of the chips obv, so took the win obv.

With the end of Chompy's Thread now looming, I have to say, a big thank you to the miserable old sod.

This Thread has been a contendor for Thread of the Year, & Chomps has put an extraordinary amount of hard work & awesomely gifted wordage, into it.

Well done him.  Proper Legend.

Just a 24 month ego trip with regular 'I quit' posturing and flounces. Happy to contribute the first £1.50 towards a girdle as a leaving gift imo

Al's is closed, going for a balla $7.99 brekkie in an hour, followed by Fuddruckers great burger for lunch.

Downtown for NYE imo

Actually I just typed in the names of the 3 players at Luton I rank most highly and was delighted to see you all made the list xx

BOB for sure

Think a leaving speech is in order from said Chompmeister, before he officially hands over the reigns to Mr ColourCodedClipBoardExtraordinaire

A good night last night ... a coincidence here but every time Tikay and I are at the same G tournament we always end up being drawn next to each other .... was loving the continuous UTG raises on my BB especially the time with the majestic 53 os ...... was loving my re-pop to 3k even more when I looked down to see those beautiful little Aces staring lovingly back at me saying 'in grandad's eye Holdy' he he    Lovely chats though, espically trying to work out what hands TV Table man in seat two actually FOLDS?

Custardman was very well behaved last night ... a little glimmer of glee appeared in my eyes when he announced he was moving onto the southern comfort ... alas escapades of the previous Wednesday were not to be repeated, shame.  His best move of the night was surely guilt tripping Springster into swapping 10% then immediately donking off most of his chips the hand after  Grin
