Bit more info for those interested.
Anyone considering travelling over, here is an email sent to AA insurance and their reply. In short if you have a problem and it is directly related to the riots your not covered, if it isn't you are. So I don't think you will have a problem if your going to the beach resorts as there are no problems there.
I have a trip planned from the 12th June 2010 for 25 days to Thailand.
I have a question on the policy wording under general exclusions section 5
5. Travelling or intending to travel to a country or specific area that the Foreign &
Commonwealth Office has advised against ‘all travel’ where this information
was public knowledge prior to booking and/or departing on your trip.
The FCO are currently advising "we currently advise against all but essential travel to the whole of Thailand" This reads to me as this policy will cover my trip as the FCO advice is not all travel although I understand other exclusions will apply due to civil unrest etc.
Can you please confirm if this policy will cover a trip to Thailand providing the level of FCO advice does not change. I do not want to purchase a policy & find out I'm not covered if I require any medical treatment.
Looking forward to your reply

Thanks for your email
You are covered as per the normal terms and conditions of the policy which means if you are travelling to Thailand and the affected areas with the riot disruption any claims that are not relating to the riot disruption will be considered as per normal.
We can still offer cover for travelling to Thailand as long as you are aware that any claims arising due to the unrest will not be covered
Hope this helps
Many Thanks
