You need to think of future sick day EV as well.

By going back just on the Friday you give future sick days much more credibility which could be useful in the summer when Thorpe Park opens.

it's already open. now is the best time to go on a sickie, if you leave it til the summer you risk getting sunburnt in the queues which is a bastard to explain away when you go back into work

Such a higher level of thought process here. Love it.

For a lot of workplaces nowadays, it's not neccessarily the amount of days off sick, it is the amount of "instances" in any 12 month period that is measured.

In my workplace taking the Friday off would be more to your advantage than returning on the Friday and then taking a further sickie later in the year as we are not measured by days, but the amount of "instances of absence" within a 12 month period.

e.g. I could take one period of 21 days (7 days self certified and the rest on doctors line) which would count as 1 "instance"

However if I took 3 seperate periods, say 10 - 4 & 7 days off separately during the 12 month period I would probably be put on an absence management plan.

Hope this makes sense

We have 3 mdee's here and I was suprised when I took the kids to one the other day and the actually had some older types working in there. Probably 8 staff I could see and not one was under 40
