is it just me or is there a difference betweeen buying yourself into a live game and an online game of same cost

what i mean is i have no quarms about traveling the country and paying upto £1000 to play in a Mtt then add expenses onto that

but online i will  only rarely buy into an event over $22

i might play a $11 rebuy online but nothing bigger but live i will think nothing

of having 15 buy ins in a £20 game

thinking about it 1 trip away costs more than if i was to play the millions on stars every week

but the millions on stars seem much more of a risk then flying down to dtd and playing the deepstack

or down to the vic and playing a £750 freeze etc etc

The live game comes with the added value of good company, banter, getting out & about, chance of pulling etc....

agree everything about the chance of pulling sorry but having seen your typical poker player , i wouldnt be heading to for a poker event for the chance to pull

even if you do get the occasional attractive player she would be busy being the centre of attentions

Not that I play online much but for me what's in my online account and my bank account are two seperate bankrolls.

There's not a great deal in my online account so I don't play very high stakes online. I consider it to be a poker bankroll and try to protect it.

What's in my bank account however I don't consider to be a poker bankroll. I'll happily play any event that I feel comfortable enough to spend the money on. And this gets topped up every month when I get paid so there's always something to play with. And poker adds a bit too.

And of course there's also the fact that:

$50 mtt grinder > random 1k live player. Innit.

I love playing live but I'm quite happy to donate online...but when I have to physically hand over cash for a buy in it hurts a little in some bizarre way.

I occasionally think that I could of bought something nice with that £100 or whatever but online it's just different...well to me it is anyway.

$50 mtt grinder > random 1k live player. Innit.

This.

Also if you go to the Vic and play a £750 comp you're likely to be up against no more than 100 other players.

Playing the Sunday million you're up against 9000+

As payouts are very top heavy in tournaments you are going to find it much harder to make a long term profit in the mirrion becasue you are far less likely to win it.

If you do happen to bink though it's happy days Smiley
