Campbell's well out of order there. To me, that's just badly timed. No malice whatsoever. The Mascherano one a few weeks ago he got the 4 match ban for was worse. If Shawcross arrives a quarter of a second earlier or later then Ramsey gets back up.

It's over the ball and studs-up, how can you even begin to defend it ?

Quite easily. I've seen worse tackles with less injuries that haven't even got a red card.

Bad tackle? Yes.
Sending off? Yes.
Deliberate? No.
Badly timed? Yes.

Everybody (not singling you out particularly here Karabiner) goes on and on and on about "studs up" challenges. If you're stretching for the ball at full speed then the natural position of our feet is "studs up". Why not just ban full length challenges?

All I've seen is 2 viewings of that video that was posted up earlier at full speed btw. I haven't seen any slow-mo replays or close-ups and so I don't know if it was over the ball cos it happened really fast. I went back to look but the vid has been removed.

I don't even think that's a red. Just Shawcross is solid.

I agree. The reaction of the Arsenal players to the injury got him the red. Fair play to MOTD for showing it.

Ramsey ruled out of Wales clash

That is the headline on bbc sports !! I think it could be a contender for "statement of the obvious" of the year.

Terrible injury and awful luck.

It wasn't studs up, and there was no malice. Really it wasn't any worse than Terry's tackle that got a booking in the earlier game.

To be fair though I don't think the Arsenal players influenced the ref, I think he'd made his mind up immediately. It looked like they all heard the bone going, and I think that's more than enough to make him reach for the red.

I remember seeing the newspaper pics the day after Larsson got injured, and thinking that was the end of his career, but he managed more success at Celtic, the Champions League with Barcelona, and even a cameo at Man Utd, so let's hope Ramsey makes an equally full recovery.

Sol Campbell is a total twat!!

Campbell's well out of order there.

meh, he's just seen his teammate's leg snap and he freaked out a bit. harsh to judge him on that imo

Did the tackle even break his leg? the still they showed on MOTD seemed to show his leg bent before the tackle, might have been a bad angle but even at full speed it was a badly timed tackle but didnt look malicious to me.

i was more pissed off by him running over, getting held back and trying to steam forward as if to knock the guy out. looked like the kind of thing you see on a saturday night in luton town centre. everybody else is trying to help ramsey, the ref's going for shawcross and campbell's steaming in. no need for it.

No way it was deliberate so can't have a go at shawcross at all he looked devastated when he wen't off the pitch,Ramsey won't fully recover from this just like 90% of footballers who get sucha  horrific injury never do
