I have a Motorola xt720.
The camera shutter sound is very loud.
There is no "Turn off shutter sound" option.
(The law in some countries, including the one where this phone was made, insist that the phone makes a noise when taking a picture).
I would like to find a working app that allows me to mute my native camera.
I have tried "Silent Snap". It doesn't work.
Camera360 has the option to turn the sound off. Does that allow me to use my native camera do you know? You would still be able to use the native camera, but whether or not it will still make the shutter sound I'm not sure. I downloaded Camera360... found that it had the option, tried it and then un-installed it. I didn't bother trying my native camera while it was installed. It's free so I would suggest just giving it a go.

Investigating..... It looks complicated. It seems to be a picture editing / manipulation app or even a collection of several apps.

I'm a bit scared by the "It doesn't work and it wont uninstall" review
Review of Camera360. by RioRodent "It works and it uninstalls." However, having just re-installed it... Opened Camera360 and disabled shutter sound - no shutter sound when taking pics with Camera360. Opened native camera app - shutter sound still plays. Camera360 re-uninstalled.

Can I use my native camera totally independently of it?

I didn't really 'take a picture', I just pressed the shutter button to see if it made a noise, then deleted the resulting pic of my laptop keyboard! Do you really want me to re-re-install it? Can I use my native camera totally independently of it?
Yes.

Both pics straight from the phone (HTC desire), with default settings, flowers were moving around in the breeze a bit. I would say the Camera360 one is probably better? (I haven't re-re-re-uninstalled it yet) - Camera360 | Click to see full-size image. |
