If you're paying £1 to fly on a plane you can count it as a result if you're not used for medical experiments during the flight.

Airport dependent

You flying from Luton? Never had my bag weighed there, as long as the size is right you should be fine.

If your flying from Frankfurt Hahn however and your bag is overweight, laughing at the horribly miserable fat woman will get you in trouble and you will be paying €35.
On the upside my bag was nearly double the allowed weight, however she was definately over double the allowed weight.

Few things strike me in this thread:

Back to doubleup, i can't see where you can asses that Ryanair don't care much about safety or security, they fly the youngest fleet in the world can't do much more for safety than that. As for security that is down to the individual airport.

The other thing, Easyjet are still pretty comparable in size to Ryanair, a quick check tells me it was 60m and 45m flown last year by the two airlines.

lol they abandon ppl for days all over Europe - they are only motivated by making money, any safety concerns they have are to avoid being sued or shut down, they couldn't care less about their customers.

Anyway my point was in the context of the passport issue, other airlines don't require a passport for domestic flights so there is no "recommended" security reason for insisting on it and to suggest that Ryanair (given their hostility to rules) are doing something additional for the sake of passenger welfare is laughable.

Hope she gets an Easyjet ban. WP trollydolly. They know that most peops ignore the inflight safety briefing, probably moreso those with a newspaper. Many who died in crashes could have lived if they'd listened to the inflight safety briefing or actually known where the nearest exit was (you should really be able to find it by 'touch' in complete darkness).
Plane crashes, catches fire, and you're about to get out but you fall unconscious through smoke inhalation because some blonde is blocking the emergency exit with her pre-inflated lifevest and 36DDs.

VIctoria,

When you sat down did you take the time to read the emergency leaflet and study the instructions how to oppen the over wing exirs in case of an emergency? You dod not say so. I suspect you merely sat down and started to read. By your own admision you are a nervous flyer - you do not like take off. Well in this case you should not have been selfishly siting in an emergency exit row.

I can see why you thought this might be an amusing article for a Sunday morning. It is light. It is amusing. But at the end of the day it pokes fun at airline safety. You may have a way with words, but don't expect to be taaken seriously as a journalist if you can't even be bothered to balance the article by researching on airline safety and the importance of fit persons by the overwing exits where possible. TRy researching the British Midland Kegworth crash for starters.

"No, you must hand it over now," said the stewardess. "It is important to concentrate."
I sighed and handed over the paper.

"In an emergency," repeated the steward, "you would panic."
"In an emergency," I said, "we'd all panic. I'd be as motivated as anyone to get the door open.

I felt ready to be imprisoned for my religious beliefs and I worship the god of logic.

The primary hazard involving the use of overwing exits is passengers not waiting to be given the command to evacuate, but rather initiating it themselves. While many passengers (especially frequent fliers) would believe that they are adult enough and educated enough to decide that they need to get out of an aircraft, they are not trained in the specific dangers or the sequence of events required to decide when a full-scale evacuation is needed[1]. Also, passengers will frequently open an exit as soon as evacuation begins which may result in them evacuating into danger. This occurred in the Ryanair engine fire in Stansted Airport  in 2002, where passengers evacuated themselves onto a burning wing, despite airport fire services shouting at them to return inside the aircraft and evacuate via a usable exit [2]. Typically, these problems do not occur at floor level, full sized, exit doors because these are operated by flight attendants in an emergency who have extensive emergency training.

Another hazard in the use of overwing exits is them being improperly opened (usually a result of passengers in these seats not paying attention to the verbal briefing provided pre-departure, or not observing the opening instructions on the safety card and on the exit). The majority of overwing exits involve the passenger physically removing the hatch from its frame and disposing of it outside on the wing without blocking the exit. Research conducted at the Cranfield Institute in the UK [3]  showed that many passengers are prone to leaving the exit hatch on the seat next to the exit, thereby hindering other passengers egress through the exit.

You have to pay the 'runway surcharge' Wink

That's the thing with Ryanair, they might charge you for using the toilets, but they do make sure everyone gets good use of them Shocked
