http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11546228

Major bits are:

Opening Ceremony: £20.12 - £2012

Mens 100m Final: £50 - £725

and Beach Volleyball: £20 - £450

Having had a quick look it seems like most sports start at £20-£30 for the preliminary rounds and £50-£100 for the finals.

But there's so much difference between the cheapest and most expensive tickets I'd really want to see exactly what the difference is before deciding on what was worth buying.

Pointless guys, read somewhere the world is going to end on December 23 this year so might want to hold fire here.

Cheers for the heads up. Was in the process of sorting out my Christmas plans but I shan't bother now Smiley

chances of getting a ticket through ticket master is only slightly better than nil

having to buy a ticket through there partner site at 4x mark up highly likely

The expensive seat prices are for a good seat on the grandstand nearest the start

The cheap seats are to stand in the foundations of the grandstand that won't be built in time

A special police unit, Operation Podium, is already targeting touts and a number of websites selling illegal Games tickets have been closed, Mr Deighton said.

"To help us crack this stuff we are working closely with search engines to make sure that reselling is stopped at source," he added.

Organisers will also try to prevent sports officials or executives from reselling their allocated tickets at a "dramatically increased rate".
...

It doesn't say too much about how much price hiking will be possible through legal means though

Pricing seems sensible overall.  Not out of reach to most, and for lots of sports tickets should be easier to get (compared to say the 100m final).

I wonder how many people are going to spend £20 to watch any handball, let alone £50 for the preliminary rounds.

There are sports that will attract a core group of fans. I have no idea how many handballers (if that's the term) there are in the UK, and the rest of Europe for that matter, but I bet that in most cases demand will match the supply.

Can't believe opening ceremony prices. I wouldn't go to this if it was free. Who's paying 2k to go?
