It couldnt have gone better for Khan, not only did he clearly establish himself as  one of the best fighters in the world in front of a big american audience, he also established himself as one of the most exciting. As dominant as Khan looks going forward he always looks vulnerable in defence, so he will probably get some great fights as a result. I reckon he will probably lose at some point to a smart fighter, but he has a helll of a career ahead of him.

Not sure how the judges had it as close as they did, I had Khan ahead clearly even without the point deduction.

Great fight. Could the judges have awarded any 10-8s there without a knockdown? He was badly dominated in 2-3 rounds. Can't see why he wasn't further ahead on points if not!

Agree with Barry, perfect fight for Khan. As this will serve as great promotion for him in the US, as an exciting fighter to watch. Now we know he can take a punch but still has a mediocre defence.

Was a great fight to watch, wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.

I'm not so sure I want to see a rematch, as good as the other guy was. I think one of the key components that made it a great fight was the sense that Khan was about to throw it away, rather than the other kid was matching him. In the same way that I don't think we needed to see him face Breidis Prescott again, because that loss was much more about what Khan did wrong than what Prescott did right. I think I would much rather see him move up to another big fighter, preferably one with a few more tricks in the box than Maidana.

Ridiculous from the judges.  With the 10-8 from the knockdown round and the point deduction, Khan was at least six rounds ahead.  Basically, two judges thought that Khan lost more rounds than he won - which is simply bollocks.

Most of the rounds Khan won, he dominated, I think he was well ahead even if the two 10-8 rounds didnt happen. In fact, do they publish the score cards after the fight anywhere? Because I am pretty sure they will have had to have given Maidana a couple of 10-8 rounds too to get them that close.

Its my biggest pet peeve in boxing, the commentators said all that matters is the right result was called, but I disagree, for someone to have got a score card that wrong even though the end result was right stinks of incompetence/corruption, but it always goes overlooked as long as the right man wins, so he will go on to judge again.

I want to see the scorecards too (going to search now).  The thing is that the scorecards are submitted after each round, so they can't 'predict' how close it's going to be.  So trying to engineer a close result is difficult as they don't know how the subsequent rounds are going to go.

The official scorecards are now slightly different to what was announced on the night (or maybe I misheard, I was a bit tired).  They're now 114-111, 114-111, 113-112.  Even if the 10th was given as a 10-8 round, that still means the judges had Maidana winning more rounds than Khan.  Still can't find the score cards showing each judge's score for each round...
