Does make me wonder why at the very least the DVLA (or whoever it is that sells them) don't make them non-transferable when they get sold. Presumably they could get away with charging more for certain plates too.

Your beer analogy doesn't work. The beer has to be brewed, then stored, then transported to the pub. They have to pay costs on premises, pay staff to run the place, make a profit. So obviously i'm paying more.

As far as I can tell with these number plates you're essentially just buying the ones you think people will want. This means they can't get them for the "proper" price and instead you're going to charge them more for it. It just doesn't sit easy with me. You aren't providing any sort of service or value for money. You've just jumped in looking to make a quick buck from nothing.
