Vinny do you think the Blonde league has help/hindered the Luton comps at all.
Do you think the need for savers and chops in nearly every comp is a good thing for the players?
I think in some ways it has helped the Luton comps. More people going to try and gain points etc. It also made for a better atmosphere, A would go because B was going, then C would go because D was going, and E would go cause it looked like it was gonna be a good night and so on. In other ways though it has not been played by some in the right spirit. Some negative comments from people that took it way too seriously. When it started out it seemed like a bit of fun, but as time went on when people saw the were 4th in the league behind xxxxxxx then I heard comments like, ffs how can he be above me in the league, and I have heard people say that it is a good indicator of who is the best player in Luton etc, a question that has been bounded around blonde for ages. I love the question, It's almost impossible to answer, but people always have a go at it. And normally fail.

As for savers and chops etc, I think it is relative to the people involved. For example, Chompy, or Choppy as I am going to rename him from now on wanted to do a chip count deal on Friday with 6 left I think. I refused because there were two short stacks to my left that were quite tight and had about 8 bigs left. I refused on that basis, and rightly so. Sure enough, they were out soon after. When we got 4 handed, a new deal was proposed that got me just over 2nd place without having to play on. For me £850 is a lot of money. More than I got paid for working a whole month in december, so I would have been daft to refuse given that I was potentially one hand away from 4th place which paid £290 I think?
On Sunday we were at the final for about two hours and had only lost two players. 5 got paid. The average stack was about 15 bigs, so when someone offers me money back when I have 7 bigs, then I have to accept. But if i'm honest, paying 8 of 30 is ridic. Alan McBride had an unfortunate incident a couple of Sundays ago when they wanted to do a 10 way chop with only 30 runners. He went out 8th for no money, he was right in what he done. When he got knocked out though I'm sure there was a few sniggers from the players left in, who probably thought they were a lot smarter than Al. They are all wrong in the long term I think. Will say, the above excludes Tikay as he was there but never gets involved in deals until they are agreed.
So there is some examples of when it's right or wrong for me, and I think thats the key. If it suits everyone at the table then fine, If not, then no deal.
What do you think Jim?

Cheers Richard, was good to see you too.
Been thinking about the Holly stuff and what I posted. It wasn't intended to upset people, though I fully understand that people would probably be upset. Believe me when I say, It took me 10 months to be able to write about. There is a thread in the lounge that when I read it back just after Holly's funeral i found upsetting. But at the same time I was glad I done it.
The Holly stuff that I posted recently was done for a few reasons. There were people on blonde that knew what had happened and I wanted to just let them know all the stuff I couldn't or didn't want to talk about previously, also as well there are a lot of people that didn't know about it that were sometimes put in an awkward position through no fault of their own, so it hopefully stops that in the future. But most importantly, I tried tell it from the point of view of what Holly had to go through. I seem to have received a lot of sympathy on here and elsewhere, which is fine in a way, but she was the one that suffered the most from it all. The story has obviously been heavily edited for the most part. I could write pages and pages about what she went through. It's not really something I would like to share though to be honest. And it's not the type of things people would like to read I'm sure. What I would like people to take from the Holly story is that despite things not quite going the way we and she had hoped for her life, she dealt with everything with an amazing bravery & I'm incredibly proud of her and glad she was my daughter for 12 years. Just wasn't long enough.
With regards to the Deepstack, I'm probably gonna give DTD a miss in February. I have plans for the 4th which I can't really get out of, and then twoo weeks later I'm going to Glasgow, so will probably swerve the UKIPT in between. May go up for the one in March though if I don't qualify for the european deepstacks in Luton at the beginning of March, so thank you for the offer of a lift.
