But, what kind of stuff do you put in it?
Good personal memories mate. Just things that you and her always used to do together. Funny and endearing habits she used to have that everyone there can relate to and all that sort of stuff. Make it personal to you but try to get little things in there that everybody knows about her and all that stuff. It's a tricky thing really. Just sit down, write about how you feel and what you would like to share with people there and you'll be fine. Don't know what else to say really as it's different for everybody and it's difficult as feck.

But, what kind of stuff do you put in it?
things that were personal attributes to her. I mentioned how fiery my mum was but also how when she was called a friend you had a friend for life and how even though she was very protective of me she would always allow me enough rope to hang myself by thereby learning by my own mistakes. I also spoke about memories that i had of her that were shared with other people and how she would be remembered from them. Trying to sum up someone life in such a short space of time is very difficult not because of not knowing what to write but because of trying to figure out what to leave out as there are so many memories that once you start to write its hard to know where to stop. I actually found that writing helped. It was hard and most of it done through tears and tea breaks but i done it and felt better for it.

Hey Vin, I did my Dad's and found it quite a cathartic thing to do - felt like taking a bit of personal control over closing the episode.
My Dad was in the forces and so I knew a lot of his old mates would show. So, as well as my personal and our family memories I tried to relate things that I knew he felt about people. Being a limited, grunting Scotsman he would never have told all those blokes just how important they and the whole forces experience were to him.
So, I think you can throw in quite a sprinkling of things you know your mum felt about family, friends etc so yr kinda talking for her and saying some of the things she might not have gotten round to saying to people
Good luck with it mate and chins up x

Vinnie, just caught up with your diary (haven't read the others yet) and so sorry to hear about your mum.
Be brave for now, and then when you're ready focus on achieving your goals this year - for her.

Lots of stuff happening on the Mods board today, more so than usual. Haven't got involved in it, mainly because I was viewing on my phone and it's so arsey to post. Especially when driving Fascinating to see sometimes. Amazes me all the different views and perceptions on stuff. And the problems that just spring up. Who would want to be a Mod eh?
