Alex

Do you listen to the Bart Hansen podcast "deuce plays"?

Much of his analysis is on live games and i think would be helpful. If you listen, whats your thoughts?

This is great so far, ty.

Alex is 4k your poker roll or your life roll too? As in if you go on a downswong and lose (which I hope doesnt happen) might you not be able to play .50/1 either?

Yeh its life roll as well. Say in next 6 weeks i dropped 15buyins at 50/1 and also spent £500 or 1k on living expenses then I'd have to either get staked for 50/1 or grind online. It's unlikely but quite possible. It would be annoying but I understand that with a small life/poker roll I have to be prepared for it and I think it's fine. With this strategy sooner or later I'll run really good at 1/2 and then be comfortably rolled for it.

optimism is a good thing to have......

seriously though, stop playing chinese, dont prop, dont do anything pathetic and degeneratey which others seem to think is cool. With a BR of that size you have a stepping stone to getting a proper br but also a high chance of going broke. Being staked is not cool, being in make up is not helpful, playing your own dimes and winning all monays is fun. Obv selling pieces in big donkies is different but living day by day needing money from others does not make someone a professional in my eyes.

I really believe that live players have literally zero idea or understanding or respect for bankroll management or anything that goes with it. The trip was awesome, sick place etc but hardly a sustainable idea on such a small bankroll.

now i'm going to get back into bed and make another river of sweat. fun times.

Great post titbeam. Tho it is tough not to get caught up with all the props when you're hanging around with peeps who essentially have bigger rolls. If you work/grind hard it'll come tho

I think most peoples rolls are smaller than everyone would probably guess at.

There's nothing balla about being under-rolled. Live players, with the knowledge that they'll never make the long term seem to not care about BRM.  It's pretty ridic the amounts that they seem to think are acceptable.  After all you can only play 1 table and get 1 stack in at a time why have more?! When you play 20 tables and can do 20 stacks at once you really have to learn about variance and losing and bankrolling yourself. I cant stress enough the swings in this game even with a good win rate.

Going busto means you cant play which means you cant realise any winrate, being able to earn in the long run is more important than taking a shot or w/e.

Nits get all the money yo.

lolaments.

I think I worded those posts better than my initial 'fish on a heater' picture posts, it doesn't matter how well you 'can play' if you can't afford to play. I may be a forum tilting machine but poker money management wise I live to knit cardigans.

some very ill informed posts about "being backed being such a bad thing" have been popping up recently - i really cant be arsed to argue - but it can have way more merits than people seem to think  - than the "giving half away" mentality
