GREAT day yesterday. Deepstack didn't go too well. But really enjoyed the company of Alan "Lucky" McBride, and Pete "Big Chara" Chararararalambos, neither of whom I'd met or played with before, so that was fun
Lost A9<A3 vs Pete to knock him out, and he's gone on to day two grr! Also lost A9<KQ to exit but meh, that doesn't really paint a fair picture of the day, cos to be honest I deserved to go out sooner. Played a bit too aggro and fancy - not a good idea on day1 of the DTD300.
Anyway, after a cooling off period, onto the 1/2 tables...I sat at a game with Alan Stearn, Ian Gasgoigne, James Tomlin and Sunny Mistri from whatsonpoker.com and a few unknowns. So I was the only reg in the game? Time to don my ambassadors badge and be a good host for my guests.
James ordered a chicken salad that didn't have much chicken on and was rightly disgruntled. "They'll sort that out for you, James, don't worry. This place is great, just ask for some more". Even bigging up the kitchen staff for my customers...
I'm not being funny, but I was on good form last night and it was pretty laughable reading those comments about regs being unwelcoming or arrogant/disrespectful whilst I was playing in that game.
Treading on egg shells a bit here, but the games were really
soft
good? fun? profitable? Was an alright session poker wise, played A LOT, 14 hours total, including the deepstack, and ended up 430 which was alright. Although I was up about that in the first half hour! Lost it back, got in a hole, grinded out of it. Nothing majorly interesting happened.
Enjoyed railing Eso and Chili on the final table of the 100, Eso getting a 3way even chop for 3.2 beans, nice nice. Mark McCluskey was in the chop as well, the fourth addition to Keys/Keiths stable, now the #2 horse apparently...
He's gonna help out me and Mitch with our 15-30bb play because, to be honest - it's not the best
My jam with 33 on friday was apparently terrible and highlighted my ineptitude at playing that stack size and Mark's an expert on that sort of stuff. Basically, Mitch and I are massive live donks *SHOCKER
Woke up too late to play the 150 (2pm start wtf?!) so just grinding cash today. Feeling good
Hi Alex
Good to meet you & Pete on Saturday.
As a recreational player and occasional visitor to DTD, I enjoy the table chat and always feel welcome. Good fun on the lively cash table too.
Alan

Played a sick 5handed game of monopoly last night. Went broke trying to get the orange monopoly - obv the nut set to get. Eventually get it put a couple of houses on each. But have no money, so I can't afford to land on anything otherwise I'll have to sell of my houses and be out of the game basically. So I roll, hoping to brick all the nearby property. I roll a 10. Electric Company BOOOOOM I own that.
No wait, I just sold it to get the final orange. FUCKKKK. So I'm broke with just 3 properties that have no houses on them. Basically drawing dead in the game. Roll an 8. Oh hiiii derrrr free parking! Bink that for about 900, rebuild the houses. Right back in it, but run pretty bad with people bricking my property and I landed on some expensive shit a couple of times and I was busto.
But it was fun being totally out of it then luckboxing the free parking to keep me going. Great laugh overall. Sean obv scooped it, then set over setted me @ Gala for £230 sighhh. KK<AK aip for another 150 and that was it for me. Card dead for all the other hands - fun session!
Got out of it online though, mashed up a couple of 4handed tables on SKY POKER. Really enjoyed it.

Sorted a WCOOP schedule with K&K, playing the 215heads up tonight at 7, looking forward to it, along with 5/6 other events.
Was at Alea last night for the opening night of their card room, which has been inactive for several months now. It's looking really great and it's head and shoulders above Gala for the best place to play poker in Nottingham City Centre. The dealers can actually deal, the valets don't scowl at you when you order a drink, nor do they walk past the poker tables quickly and pretend not to hear anyone say "excuse me". The TDs know the rules of poker and can capably run a tournament and make consistent, fair and quick decisions under pressure. 5% rake on cash games, 2 people get rake free every hour and lots of other little incentives to make it a great place to play poker.

How does the "2 people get rake free" work?

I meant how do they not contribute rake as it is normally taken out of the whole pot?

That is a good deal. Did it spice up the action?

Agree. I like walking in to a casino and not feeling like I'm going to be mugged or sexually assaulted.

Paul "peejay" Jenkinson won 4/5 rake free deals, and I actually saw him play a pot with a hand outside of the top 10%.
