also people vastly over estimate their win rates on-line (
everyone pulls 2bb/100 out of air like its a given
) and the number of hands they will play (what online player really puts in 100k hands a month or even 50k? im sure many budget for it).
+1, not easy to win online let alone the amounts some grinders claim to make.
Its pretty hard to buy back your 20's and i'm sure on his death bed he wont be thinking if only i'd spent more Friday nights in in front of my computer.
+another 1, there's a hell of a lot of survivorship bias in these figures people throw around, the real win rates available online could never be described as "easily above" xbb at any stakes over 200nl. Basically tens of thousands of people set out to play cash online, a few "find that they're good at it" and call themselves pros/regs, then people who are looking in from outside they ask to see "what the pros make" as a guide as to what they can expect, without realising they're looking at the tip of an iceberg. Not to diminish anybody who is an online cash pro (I would also call myself this, although obv i'm just a live mtt pro really), or say that there are no winning players, but at the very least when you take results from only the people who've played a large sample you aren't ever getting what could be called an 'average', or more precisely an 'expectable' (word? should be) winrate for those stakes.

Its all very nice deciding that we should all just have a jolly old time and not work too hard but the games have only got tougher in the last 5 years, pretty hard to find reasons why that won't continue. Probably not at the pace that it has in the last 5 years, but the games will get tougher.
Personally I would much rather be in the position where I played a ton and owned a house by 30 and could do whatever I wanted than be the 30 year old that had a great time but has fallen behind the curve, isn't a winner any more and has a 10 year gap in his CV.

Trust me when your 30 all you want to do is be 20! Obv you can't just bum around but you have your whole life to make moneyz and anybody smart enough to win at online poker will never struggle to make money one way or another.

Made another final on .FR, came 4th, really annoying, had all the chips 6handed, huge CL, then lost a big flip then a guy 3b a button open from the sb with
, I cold 4bet
from the bb (playing 40bigs) and he just peeled oop and it came one of the only flops I go broke on
and I don't win the flip. Still won decent for the day, but feel a bit robbed of the victory again.
Game selecting my tourneys a bit better atm, with good results so far.
Struggling with the business. So many hoops to jump through. Annoying. The website is gonna be ready in two weeks but I'm not.
Bit of comedy Goulder run good today - I typoed both the letters of "yo" in skype chat, and wrote "hi" instead. Made me smile.

You are both right!
It's all about having balance.
In some ways I wish I had worked hard, playing every fcking tournament 10 years ago. I would be a rich man today.
But I would give back the laughs, the travelling and the good times for all the money I didn't win.

The problem with joining diaries late is there are 500+ pages to read through.
I'm doing research to see if I want to bid for your wsop action!
I'm up to page 6 :-)

Oh no, I believe I tell a few HHs from 2/3 years ago that I cringe at now!
Oh well, hope you enjoy reading anyway, it's been a pretty massive journey in the 18months since I started this.

This is normally where I'd say that I'm not really on pace to look much over 20 when I do hit 30 but had a bit of a scare today when I didn't get ID'd for a pint
I definitely do more travelling than most though
My Blonde rep has had a horrific week
