should I have pushed all in here?

Blinds 400/800
my stack 30K ( table captain and chipleader by 13K)
UTG raiser stack 7.5K
UTG raises up to 3K to play. I am in the cut off and have pocket tens.
Now UTG has played quite tight and has been complaining about not having a hand all night, His physical tells make me think he is unsure about his hand, Possibly a bit weak. I am guessing an aces with a rag or some off suit paint.
I pushed all in !!
Whouls anyone else have done this here?

How many on the table, how many places pay.
Doesn't really matter, I'd probably push anyway.

well, I am not sure, I did'nt need to be in a coinflip situation here, I know I was ahead, and I could have saved 7K by folding the best hand, so I dont know if it is just that clear cut.
i got Rivered by a king and I lost the hand, I just wondered should I have tried to out play him on the flop or as I think he was already pot committed there ws no piint to the delay.
I am just looking for a wee bit of input.

Although you're likely involved in a coin flip here, you have the luxury of a stack and he doesn't.
You should be keen to get involved if you think you have a 50:50 chance of knocking him out, if you lose you can still be captain with 23k. The 7k he would bring to the pot is worth twice as much to him as your 7k does to you.
Going all-in means there's a chance he might lay down the hand. As he's a tight player, he's probably capable of laying his hand down if it's something like KJo that he was playing out of boredom.
I don't see anyone advocating a lay-down here. (Except perhaps lvlarc uk, who disagrees with me on everything)

You could flat call, if he misses the flop he might check fold. If it comes A hi you save a few k

No, i would move in with TT.
I am just presenting another option. It is an option given the size of the stack.

For me, it depends on my knowledge of the player and the read I have on him. If he's a rock, then I may consider folding. Calling is definitley an option if you think you can outplay him on the flop. I think I'd probably reraise though in your postion.
I wouldn't worry too much about moving all-in though. You're only in trouble against 4 hands, which isn't huge when you consider he could be holding any ace, middle to small pair, KQ, KJ, JQ, or even suited connectors. Also, as someone said earlier, you've got a bigger stack so can afford to play these hands agressively.

'Outplaying on the flop' is a bit of a ridiculous notion here. If you flat call the raise, there will be 7,200 in the pot and your opponent has 4,500 left.
If the flop comes ace high and the raiser pushes his remaining 4,500 in, then you may fold thinking you have saved yourself chips by your play when in fact you have folded the best hand. Also the raiser isn't going to fold anything that can beat a pair of tens on the flop, so if you can outplay him here I would like to know how! >:?
