Thanks guys, really interesting feedback. I will go along and give it a go. I can't remember if I said this but I doubt I'll ever be any good at Poker and I don't want to frustrate better players with my stupidity so I thought the pub was the best place to start. So if the pub isn't good enough or the right place for some of you, what size tournaments are you playing in?

why won't you be good?

You should post some questions on our poker hand analysis section of the forum, no matter how basic - I'm sure they'll help improve your game.

I don't think I'll be able to weigh up situations quickly enough and the few hands I've played I've missed both obvious winning and losing hands which has mean I've not done well so far! Guess it can only get better and you learn from those situations.

And thanks for the tip GreekStein, I'll definitely post on there when I get some scenarios where I don't know what I'm doing!

try and read some of the NL forums on 2+2 and maybe even just read the hand analysis boards on here and on 2+2. There's a lot of good discussion that helps greatly.

Thanks a lot for the tips. Will set me up nicely I guess for a crack at the poker in the pub leagues.

He wasn't being sarcastic, he just loves alcohol.

In Scotland, drinking makes things better.

In that case, fair enough. Crack on. Sure there will be leagues in Scotland if that's the case - I'm sure poker and alcohol is a good mix north of the border!
