Pointless, a BBC2 programme based on RSQ. Teams of two answer questions and have to find an answer that none of 100 respondents chose.

RSQ now meets Pointless

I am taking the ten questions below to the 4 day APAT festival in Newcastle this weekend and will ask 20 non- blonde players to write down answers to questions

I will then record for each question, how many said which answer

You send me PM answers to the questions in the normal way.

Scoring on the night relates your answer with theirs

For example. If to the question "Name a Queen" 19 of the 20 say Queen Elizabeth II and you do too, you get 19 points.

Your aim is to get pointless answers

PM me your answers by 7pm on Tuesday 26th April.

Please put RSQ 54 in the subject header and give the corresponding number for each question with each answer.

The reveal will take place at 8pm on Wednesay 27/04/2011 on this thread.

Scoring then relates to the sample of responders and not your fellow contestants. Your minimum score for each question is Zero, your maximum 20.

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the highest sample responders score + 5 points, maximum therefore 25 points. This is even if some of the respondents give the same incorrect answer.

No googling. Objections will be welcomed

Answer the following  You must Pass on one

1. A British City beginning with the letter "B"

2. A Grosvenor Casino that has hosted a GUKPT Event

3. A film in which Brad Pitt has starred

4 A Chemical element between 1 and 10 on the Periodic table

5. A US state on the Eastern Seaboard

6. According to "Visit London", currently, a top 10 London Tourist attraction

7. Name a country that is currently a member of the United Nations Security Council

8. Someone who is or has been a judge on Britain's Got talent

9. The name of a Motorway Service Area on the M1

10. One of the "top ten birds" recorded in English gardens according to the 2010 'RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch"

Good luck

As I am travelling today with printouts at hand for my respondents, these questions will not be changed

Oooh cool idea.

Are you asking them to provide one answer or as many as they can? On the show it is as many as they can I believe.

One answer. Simplicity.

Are they being instructed to the nature of the quiz? eg, on my quiz I had the question "name a make of car". Everyone (except trafficjam I believe) went for "ford". If your respondants are just putting obvious answers then choosing a pointless answer could become quite trivial. Whereas if they have to name as many as they can it gets around that.

they'll be asked to choose the first answer they think of

this will be different for different people

none of us will have time to rack brains for 15 answers, so lets see how it goes

You'll still have to show some nous to get a lot of pointless answers I think. A lot of the questions only have 8-12 possibles anyway

I've never understood why we MUST pass a question. On my quizes I always put them as optional. There's no reason as far as I can see to not use it but don't see why it needs enforcing.

Actually, from now on Tighty shouldn't get any passes. This is getting too easy for him Smiley

Obviously this isn't the first pointless RSQ we've had.

But good idea!

Nice idea - IMO.

Shamefully 1* I couldn't answer and 2 or 3 are complete guess work.

*Do people actually watch BGT?  Has it been on that long it has multiple judges?

4 A Chemical element between 1 and 10 on the Periodic table

Are you going to ask people for an answer until they give one that's correct, or are you just going to take their first answers right or wrong?

Also, are they allowed to use google?

No they won't google. The questions are designed so nobody will get them wrong. If respondents do then the max score a player can get for that question will reduce accordingly

Richard osman is his name. Though I would imagine armstrong and his raffish charm get more girls. No one seems to want an enormous brain these days.
