Just got this below.  Everything I applied for has been sold out (maybe I won't get 2 days canoeing after all), but there are some pricey athletics tickets left etc

Congratulations! We are delighted to confirm that you have been allocated some or all of the London 2012 Olympic Games tickets you applied for. You have been charged only for the tickets you have been allocated.

We are currently updating your account. We will be in touch prior to 24 June 2011 to confirm the details of which tickets you have been allocated.

We had an overwhelming response for Olympic Games tickets, with 1.9 million people applying for more than 20 million tickets. We are sorry if you did not receive all of the tickets you applied for - across all sports, two-thirds of price categories were oversubscribed and went to ballot. However, there will be further opportunities to purchase tickets between now and the Games.

This starts with an opportunity for you to request some of the remaining tickets from 6am on 8 July to 6pm on 17 July 2011. These tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and cover a great range of Olympic sports

http://media.ticketmaster.com/en-gb/img/sys/tournament/london2012/oly-complete-a.pdf

During this second chance sales window you will only be able to submit one application, and you will be able to apply for a maximum of three sessions. Once you submit, you will receive an email confirming your application. We will advise you which tickets you have been allocated within 24-48 hours, subject to successful payment. All payments will be taken between 18 and 21 July 2011.

If you have any questions regarding your Olympic Games ticket application, please visit Frequently asked questions

Sigh, rubs:

"Your Olympic Games ticket application.

We would like to thank you for applying for London 2012 Olympic Games tickets.

Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets, we are sorry that you have not been allocated the tickets you requested. We can confirm that we have not taken any payment from you.

Demand for tickets greatly exceeded supply in the sessions and price categories you applied for. Where sessions were oversubscribed, we undertook a random ballot to allocate tickets in the fairest possible way. We had applications for more than 20 million tickets, seeing huge demand across many sports. Two-thirds of all price categories were oversubscribed and went to ballot."

and then:

"Exclusive opportunity

We would like to invite you to take advantage of an exclusive opportunity to purchase some of the remaining tickets, in advance of those customers who were allocated tickets in the initial application phase.

From 6am on 24 June until 6pm on 3 July 2011 you will be able to request some of the remaining tickets on the London 2012 ticketing website

These tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. They cover a great range of Olympic sports including Athletics, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey and Volleyball. Download the full list of available sports

During this second chance sales window you will only be able to submit one application, and you will be able to apply for a maximum of three sessions. Once you submit, you will receive an email confirming your application. We will then advise you which tickets you have been allocated within 24-48 hours, subject to successful payment. All payments will be taken between 4 and 7 July 2011.

We very much hope you will take advantage of this exclusive ticket offer so you can still be a part of the greatest show on earth.

LOL I'm an idiot.  Just checked my application and it turns out I've been looking at the wrong Visa card statement all this time.

From the amount deducted I have either:

1) 100m Final Athletics session

or

2) Rowing at Eton Dornay

Hmmmm, wonder which it could be........

Here is the list of events that are available for those that didn't get any in the first round.

http://media.ticketmaster.com/en-gb/img/sys/tournament/london2012/oly-complete-a.pdf

I am stunned at how some sports have sold out, but guess we don't know how many tickets were for sale.

Obviously most of them left aren't great and are mainly ball sports, but there are a few good ones amongst them. As it is first come first served at 6am next Friday expecting a lot of people to still be disappointed.

Two of my events haven't sold out so I know I have Ladies Hockey and womens football, and I think boxing but waiting for confirmation next week. Will probably get a relative to apply for some others for me.

The BBC are reporting that of the 2.3 million tickets that are still for sale - 1.7 million are for football

The vaguely clinging at straws  positive hope is that they report that there are expected to be about a 1 million extra tickets that will become available through returns closer to the time. I expect this will be partly down to people realising they can't make it, partly from people who received everything they bid on - but mainly when the seating charts are finally published and they realise just how rubbish their cheap tickets are.

Full marks to the Olympic people for getting people to cream themselves into a frenzy over wanting to watch Denmark v Belarus at handball.
