sounds like a TDSS based malware

get the TDSS cleaner from Kepersky, run this in safe mode reboot and then run malwarebytes in safe mode

malwarebytes on its own prob won't fix it due to the TDSS rootkit

Do you use Internet Explorer? Using a different browser may bypass some of the redirection techniques.

Chrome http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?hl=en&installdataindex=make&brand=CHKZ

Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-4.0.1&os=win&lang=en-GB

You might want to try booting up in safe mode and then doing a system restore to send your PC back to a time before the malicious program was installed.

To get into safe mode, you press F8 as your computer is booting up (in most cases it's F8 and it will probably say this on the screen).

When you've rebooted into safe mode, then you need to do the system restore:  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/  (not sure what version of windows you're running).  If the malicious software was installed yesterday, then restore your system to a point before then and it should all run OK after that.  You will lose any programs you've installed since then, but all the data (documents, images, etc.) will be as they are now.

Switch it off.

Start it up again whilst tapping the F8 key.

Select safe mode with networking when the screen comes up.

Go to control panel and do a system restore to some time before you installed cccleaner.

Don't use cccleaner again.

This is doing my head in. Gone on to safe mode. But it says system protection needs turning on. Followed instructions but can't see a box to check.
