Good Afternoon,

I used to have Norton, the 12 months has expired so looking to get some advice on decent anti virus stuff as last time I tried to sort this out myself I ended up downloading something that was supposed to be anti virus but was actually a virus itself... sigh.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I usually recommend Avast for free anti-virus.

Do you do online banking?

if so your bank may well provide you a package for free. Fwiw I bank with barclays and they give out free kaspersky licenses for up to 2 computers per online banking account I think.

I usually recommend Avast for free anti-virus.

+1 ~ I also now run Malwarebytes once a week as well, it's more for Spyware & has picked up a couple of things picked up from poker sites that Avast didn't pick up.

Yeah Avast is good and you don't really notice it, aslo run ccleaner now and again and download either spybot or anitmalwarebytes for spyware.

Yes, just download & depending on which one you choose  don't forget to check for new updates each time before you run it, Malwarebytes will automatically ask you to do this.

I run mine every week & kick it off when I have other things to do (or overnight) as it can take a while depending on how much you have on your comp - databases etc.
