I think DTD is a fantastic venue & would like to see a similar slightly smaller version in Scotland !! Is there a Market for such a club ? Would it get a licence? Would it attract the players. Playing poker in the local casinos is all fine and dandy but there not really interested in poker they hope you'll come along play a little poker then spend the rest of the night gambling on the tables!
London also have smaller dedicated poker clubs I would like to see something along those lines in Glasgow / Edinburgh. Anyone else think there's a market for such a venue??

It is a great idea. Obviously something on the scale of DTD would not be practical. I guess it all comes down to size. Some of the casinos in Glasgow / Edinburgh have 100 -> 150 capacity, but do not run at full capacity unless there is a special event. I go to Edinburgh on a Saturday and typically they get 70 / 80 runners. I am not sure about the cash games (it only looks like one / two tables). I suspect Glasgow is similar. A specialised poker room, with all dealer dealt tables would be attractive to a lot of poker players who are put off by self deal tournaments. So there is possibilities. I am not sure if the biggest blocker to this is the location. People, (generally) in Edinburgh do not go through to Glasgow to play poker or vice versa and they are less than an hour apart. I live in the middle so can choose to go to either. A specialised poker room would need people to travel and I do not know if people would do that.

Didnt say they wanted to promote poker. I rounded up but I think the Circus in Edinburgh can do around 140.

Every now & again you get a one off decent tournament so I think there's potential for a purpose poker venue that holds these events. The local casinos pick up a lot of business from poker players & give little back in return. The punters would travel from around the central belt for a decent game if poker in such a venue !!
Doubt we will see such a venue but you never know !

Dtd is a unique venue with a special owner and team. It's central location is ideal and the way it is run (even when they make a loss) means that no one is able to compete. They are setting a high standard which others have to strive towards. If it was not for Dtd and Pokerstars we would all be playing our local casino and venturing out to a gukpt every now and again thinking life is good. Just shows what can happen when people with passion and commitment open a business. Lots of people have said that the 1000 + runners at Dtd/ ukipt was down to the massive juggernaut that is stars. I personally think that the fact it was held at Dtd attracted more people, especially those anteing up and not qualifying. The numbers up in Newcastle will be interesting , granted that a lot will be in Vegas now

does it come with dealers, chips and tables? Think Val was indicating that one-off tourneys could be set up there as the UKIPT has shown. Not as a permanent venue as the Corn Exchange is a set events venue. Geo
