The budget is for my friend.

1-1.5k for flights and hotel only? Oh that's fine for NY mate. I haven't been to NY on a "Boyz trip" so wouldn't be able to tell you where to stay but you should be alright for that

I'm guessing you can get a flight for a monkey? Then looking for a hotel at about $150 a night, assuming you are sharing s room that gives ~$300 night for a hotel so just about doable

NYC is awesome but as others have said frickin expensive, especially accomodation wise. You really want to be staying in Manhattan and for anything that isn't completely tez it is £100+ a night. Anywhere in midtown Manhattan is probably the best location imo.

If you want something nice but budget have a look at staying in Jersey City, even the stuff right on the hudson are considerably cheaper than Manhattan and it is a 5 minute train ride into down/midtown Manhattan.

As Woodsey said if you don't want to go to Vegas. New Orleans is the 2nd best "party" town in the US imo, problem is you can't get a direct flight there from the UK.

I've stayed at the Park Central a few times for work. Good location for downtown tourist stuff, popular for flight crews which is usually a good sign. Can usually get it for less than £100/night.

That is bit like asking what the food is like in London. You can pretty much get any type of food you can think of and if you know where you are going it is pretty awesome.

With over 25,000 restaurants in NY I'm sure you will find a few decent ones. http://www.michelinguide.com/us/nyc_stars_2011.html

Strictly from a tourist point of view NY is the abso nuts imo, have been to a shit load of places and not one has been as good as NYC at Xmas time. Went with the missus so can't really talk from a clubbing point of view, but we nailed a tonne of restaurants, bars and attractions in the 10 days.

We stayed here :http://www.destinology.co.uk/new-york-city/hotel/the-westin-new-york-at-times-square/11727/?gclid=CN62p--1iqoCFRYf3wod6yk1zA abso amazing location, it says 4 star but i haven't stayed in many with better service. Right on Times Square. Can walk to most places and there is a subway on nearly every corner.

There is a website where you can buy bulk packages and stuff from over here and you just get the tickets while you are over there (will check my emails see if i can find it) saves you money, you are guranteed a ticket and there is no chance of getting ripped off by touts like what happened to my mates. I did a bus tour where it takes you too a tonne of things, you get out have a walk around etc then i just went back and did the bits i wanted to see more of or just visit again.

Empire state and SoL weren't the main things for me. I liked FAO Schwarz, Grand Central, Ground Zero, Central Park, Ripleys believe it or not and all the Lennon stuff. Just riding in a genuine yellow cab and going to china town etc was class. The abso nuts tho and what is a must imo is going to see something at Madison Square Gardens, i saw NY Knicks vs Miami Heat and it was insane! Cheerleaders fire out Tshirts from pressurised cannons and i caught one, obv it didn't fit.. they serve tequila cocktails in flashing mugs which get you smashed. Just sitting next to the away fans i found really weird. Amazing though!

As most people have said its not the best choice for nailing and getting smashed, but if you have defo made up your mind i would say get as close to Times square 40-60th street as poss, not sure about any real cost savers as i did my bollocks.

We did the same, 2 day bus tour pass thing, think it cost us about $120 total or something. Well worth it.

Yea, mega valoooo 4 money. There were a couple floating around, we went with the one where they also take you on the staten island ferry and stuff. Our guide proper knew his shit and was happy for us to spend longer at places if we liked it etc. When he was talking to us at the WTC site he started crying, which also set a load of women off.  This was in 2009 and i'm guessing he does it 2-3 times a week. Made me realise how much of an impact it still has on new yorkers to this day. Craziness.

Forgot to mention Wall street is decent as is the singing diner, but ive forgotten its name.

very much this - its a tip top city - esp in autumn/winter - but im not sure its  a "trip with a mate" kinda destination.

Obv!! places been with my missus = Rome, Pisa, Florence, Vegas, NY and Mauritius... Places with mates = Kavos, Riga, Tallinn, Amsterdam, Prague and Vegas. In case you was wondering Vegas with mates >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vegas with missus. Obv

Although i think girgletron has made up his mind he wants to go to NY. I also suggest watching home alone and Ghostbusters before going. Makes it even better!
