After a 2hour swingy battle "pretty boy" won the first HU in the best of 3 final we had him crushed 50/10 but got it in K10 v A10 and then he chipped solidly from there.

I said he can have a lift to London when we finish but if he wins he can fuck right off !!

UKPC Main Event TR

The main event was my most disappointing tournament in 6-12 months and as a recreational player who plays 1-2 maximum tournies a month I always go into the tournie with some expectation but this one never got started and I never got above starting stack all day, I travelled up with Dubai and was already winning a few quid from backing the GB ladies curling team to lose and then a Channing Horse to win which scated in so was in good spirits entering DTD.

Unfortunately I didnt flop anything in the early stages despite finding a few pairs and suited connectors and we bled down to 25k from 30 pretty quickly but with an excellent structure were never going to be under that much pressure but lost some more pre antes when we decided not to 3b an UTG raise and flat imediately behind by Luke Field and we peel AQcc seeing a QJ5 board calling the cbet with Luke and then after the OR checks we call Lukes turn bet but fold to the check raise from OR who later told us he had a set and Luke had KK so probs lost the minimum.

I played KK tricky and let it go having flatted behing an UTG raise when on 693Jhh a guy raises turn and Luke calls so we fold and they get it in on a river for 2p vs a set and from that point on just grinded between 8-15bb stacks still hoping for a double through and the hope of day2 which can always be a better day and having made day 2's with big stacks and small stacks sometimes you just have to be there when the good things happen but alas for us down to 6bbs I ending up having to get it in vs Kimber with Q10hh but didnt get there vs AJ and we exited with that feeling of disappointment as I will only play probably 6-10 £500-£1k comps this year so wherever I am on my lifetime luck cycle will determine whether we run deep in one or two of them or not.

Friday was to be another day however...

Left home early Friday and hooked up with Vinny at a services on the M1 for a coffee before treating him again to a Nando's prior to the start of the 6max and whilst there Claypole came over with one of his bessie's to let me know that despite not being on Facebook I was now famous after the Razavi rant about the heads up tournie where he assumed that everyone would be in the building to play a 1 day HU comp but actually it was supposed to be organised by the players themselves so having failed to get me kicked out of the comp withdrew his entry which gave me a bye to the second round.

6max went well and I built a stack fairly quickly on a table where Claypole and at all other times there was only one other agro player so there were pletny of opps to pick up some chips and my opponent in the HU match was waiting to see if I bust or went deep so when I had nearly dbl average he decided to go out for the night and my semi final oppo had a flood at his house so he trapped back to Manchester meaning the schedule would be tight over Sat/Sun.

I bagged 110k approx in the 6m from a peak of 190k with 30 mins to go and was gutted as made an error when I should have checked back the river but made a vvv thin bet and called a click back from Matt Davenport having opened QJss and bet/chk/bet called on J348A where he rivered 2p with A3 so had a rest day on Saturday intending to play my HU match and head to Luton Genting for a 1 day comp but having arrived at DTD at 1pm my HU oppo was nowhere to be seen and not returned any of Pammie's calls.

Eventually I get told he had been out on the lash and would be there for 6pm so that was GG Luton so I tried to find out who he was...

His name was Tom Batterham but to me he was

With no live record I could find I heard he posted on 2p2and had bought a chunk of people for the UKPC so putting it all together meant I was going to play a guy called SleepingTom on 2p2 and that is also his SN on stars
Here is his graph for the year so far which is impressive and left me under no illusion I was the dog in this game

But maybe with Heads Up I have found my game Wink as I really found it interesting and you are in so many different spots to mtt's or 6max cash due to having to call down 3rd and 4th pair so often or even Q high (sorry Claypole) so basically I became a massive

Tom turned out to be a really top guy and we chatted for most of the match about life, poker etcas there was no way I wanted to play in silence and having chipped him down a bit early I kept chipping away and mixing up my game until we got it allin on 67Qhh and I held A9hh and binked on the turn and faded the redraw vs 67 of Tom and it was into the next round where we were due to play this man

Here he was rubbing his hands with joy upon hearing he was playing me at some point on Sunday

Day 2 of the 6m started off with dreams of this

As in the unlikely event of me winning the 6max tourney and then managing to ship the HU bracelet I would have won the vegas package with 115pts but instead I had to be happy with 2 of these

I got an early double through in the 6m where having folded to a young Chineese guys SB he opened to 15k and I made it 28k from the BB with KK and 115k total and he 4bet to 82k so I shipped and he tanked until told him it was absolutely terrible to fold here now for the extra 33k and I really didnt mind how badly he called or whatever beat he might inflict on me so eventually he called A4DC and we pretty much flopped him dead on K63sss to double just around the bubble.

Not long after a hopefull deep run came to a disappointing halt when we lost a 400k pot with the average at 320k and 50k back when KK didnt hold vs AKdd and the double through attemp to get back in the game faltered leaving us ready to play Warbs for a spot in the final and also some £££

The HU semi was interesting as again we chatted quite a lot and knowing Steve from various circuit events we have played again I tried to keep it light hearted but unfortunately Warbs was very good at hitting rivers and chipped me down solidly he also paid me a compliment when having told me he wore his sunglasses for his other 2 matches and after I soul read him and called him with K high having stared him down he decided the "lucky glasses" as he described them came out and he told me he had never lost a heads up match whilst wearing them.  Obviously this made me really determined to beat him so whilst he had me chipped to 45k vs 15k I knew if we started to think about bb's then we would be ok as opposed to the early stages when you had soooo many chips you just splashed around so just as the blinds went 3/600 we got it all in A5 vs A4 and binked a 5 when it should be a split pot most of the time to go 38/22k in his favour.

So I said "If I do happen to beat you do I get to keep the glasses as they wont be lucky anyomre" as I sensed a small shift in momentum as he did also, I tilted him further when I made a check raise with K high on AA4 and he folded so I showed him as I really felt I was going to win this match and decided we would try everything within the rules to win.

I opened the btn with Ah 8D and we flopped 567ddH and he check called a bet turned the and he check called again and then on the river he checked again so I bet small and he looked at me and just as he was about to call I showed him the Ah and he snapped called me with a pair of kings and now we had him.

The very next hand we are now 49k vs 11k in my favour and he opens to 2k at 5/1000 I 3b 77 to 5k fully intending to get it in but he dwells so I tell him "If you call I jam every flop and if you Jam I call" he flicks in the call and before the dealer dealt I set him in and we see a flop K73 which he calls drawing vv thin with KQ but obv a tad unlucky at the same time and it was off to face pretty boy in the final.

This man waited for me in the final and uncannily he actually predicted what the score would be prior to the event for our best of three match

Alex is a top man and I told him before we started that if I won I was going to give Tikay the bracelet as I know he would have really liked it and it wouldnt have suited me anyway so I wanted to win for him as much as me tbh but despite making some great calls and value bets whilst flopping better in the early skirmishes I lost the chance to win the first match when we got it in K10 me vs A10 him and I asked him if it was cool to get it in there which he said yh so all was good despite losing the pot and eventually the first game.

I again chipped him down early in the second but then the big "MO" turned away from me and onto him and I made a pretty thin jam on the river of a board showing J7837 having checked called flop and turn to leave me just a pot sozed jam otr when the flush came and he eventually called with J10 and we shook hands and having said I would give him a lift we headed off but when I got him to pay for the petrol at Watford Gap services I left him and drove off to spite him for denying me the chance of giving Tikay the bling.

Hope you got home ok Pretty boy!!

The last part probably didnt happen but would have done if he hadnt gone out for another night out with the boys, I had a great few days up there and bumped into so many faces old and new and thoroughly enjoyed myself but now its back to work before maybe a jaunt back up for the deepstack....

Ahh yes, good playing with you too bud.

I dont remember the board or action but yes I had Q8ss but as the hand played it could have been QQ which I think was no pair on the river and Vinodh had bet the river and as no-one likes to play the last pot before a break and he looked a bit weak in body language I decided to raise fold the river if required so put in the raise and Vinodh went into the tank, now I rarely talk in hands but used this opportunity to chat to him and eventually asked what the penalty was if I showed a card and was told it was 1 orbit of 6 max so I was going to lose 450 chips taking the penalty having raised to 9650 so I exposed the and Vinodh now said he could not beat Q10 with the 10 being the highest card on the boards and he folded showing me a ten with me showing the for bants Wink

See you soon in a satty Wink

Not really been upto much the last week or so since UKPC so not a lot to report on as been busy at work plus been putting a lot of work into the two businesses that are started or in the second clothes business case are about to start so time has been at a premium.

The leaflets business starts monday with the first drop going out and I have purposely kept it at 2 leaflets to measure how the dropper gets on in the areas and how long it takes him.

The second hand clothes shop is moving forward at a pace and we currently have over 1000 items of baby/toddler/childrens clothing that have been sourced from Facebook groups, Freecycle, boot sales etc and it has cost approximately 25pence per item so far with 10p shipping costs to get out there and based on our research we are likely to get on average 2.5-3 euro per item.  Petra's mum is going to work the shop which will be open for 40 hours per week and on the 26th March Petra and the kids fly out there with me following on the 1st April for us to get the shop ready and do some marketing ready for a May opening.

In reality neither business is going to be a massive earner but will enable us to run a couple of decent vehicles on them and give us some flexibility in the future with other things we are planning for the end of 2014 and on...

I loaded some money upto stakesandladders.com for the first time since joining and entered LilD's darts pool for something to sweat whilst playing the Deepstack online leg last night and managed a win for a cool £855 and at the same time made day2 of the deepstack going back with 26bb's Sunday so the usual suspects in the staking team have a small sweat to look forward to.

Here was the lovely email greeting me at work today
