Good read so far guys.  Best of luck.

I have a question for all you wight loss folks out there.  Over the last few months, I have been getting teased a bit by friends and workmates about my weight.  Since I was a kid, I could eat anything I wanted and not put on weight. I could eat takeaway every night and junk food in vast amounts and still weigh under 11 stonne.  That is until I hit my 30s. Things have started to change and other people seem to have noticed rather than me looking in the mirror and getting a scare at what is looking back.

Today at work, I was getting teased as usual about being unfit. I offered to jump on the scales to prove I was just under 11 stonne.  To my shock and disgust, I now weigh 13.2.......
It still hurts my eyes to read that number.  I checked again when I got home and this time it as 13.4.

At what point does age catch up with you and play with your metabolism?

I used to be very fit and lean, now I feel like a different person at 32.  I am going to start indoor rowing again tommorow and banning myself from takeaways. My big problem is eating about four takeaways a week for dinner.

Yup I was not fat until my early 30's.

Hello Claire :-)

So I can blame my age as well as the takeaway busy lifestyle?   haha

lol,  I left that line of work behind.  Did you know they expect plumbers to have certificates and a working knowledge of pipes?  I tried to just confuse them with stories of penguins when they asked to see my credentials, but they demanded to see qualifications then escorted me from the premises.  Plumbing is a tough business.

i don't know what age your metabolism changes   ...mine was weird

i left the army at 23 and got a job driving a lorry ! (only for a couple of years)

over the next 5 years i gradually put on weight

was it my age  ?

was it cos i sat on my arse ? (driving)

or was it just that i did not do no exercise no more ?

Hitting 30s deffo saw me lose some energy (though I'm a much better sleeper now so it is not all bad) but for me it was no longer being single that saw me put on weight. Without the constant need to impress women, I lost some motivation in that area.

In your case i would not be so quick to blame age when you have four takeaways a week and stopped indoor rowing for a while.

It was easy peasy at first but my will power has diminished.

Just put it to bed and crack on lads, it's done now and if you dwell on it you're only gonna agitate yourselves further. I did the same on Sunday after having my 'rest day' on Saturday and overloaded on crap again. You'll probably weigh in high if you weigh yourselves now but next week any weight you've put on will be lost again and you'll be right back on track.

In something as long term as this periods will crop up planned and unplanned where you'll go stuffing chocolate or overdo the takeaways and that's a fact. Everyone is making progress though which is the main thing and as long as the little lapses are in the minority everyone will continue to make progress. What I find myself doing is thinking fk it I've eaten 2 chocolate bars I might as well get a chinese now and then some ice cream etc. etc. Cheesy

Diet 09/02/12

MP MRP
Reflex Flapjack
300g Chicken
Broc/Pak Choi/Green Beans etc.
100g Rice
Isoclear 2 scoops
120g Lamb
Pitta

Protein:223g
Carbs:  137g
Fats:      43g

Cals:    1829

Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and use Saturdays as my base before I eat any crap, weighing myself on Mondays will give a false reading after I've had a garbage day and will be carrying water weight. Also it gives me the inclination to stay sensible for the full 5 days as opposed to just Mon-Thurs Cheesy

Did a shoulder workout yesterday which is kind of awkward using olympic dumbbells as opposed to the gym style ones and interchanging plates after every set is a workout in itself. Needs must though and once I've been at it a couple weeks I'll hopefully have worked out which exercises work and which don't so it's not £300 down the pan.

I'm also going to get an olmypic bench as the one I have isn't much good for flat pressing only incline, upright for shoulders and the like. This sure is going to make me popular around the house too with mum
