I thought that it was the game in which the house had the smallest edge too?
Yup, most fun too IMO. On the small craps table in gala notts if you bet on the 4 or 10 there is no house edge either, well that was the case last rime I went in which is admittedly 18 months ago or so.
Yeah I had great fun whenever I played it in Vegas and Skalie has had some legendary craps syndicates. Sadly I've only ever been involved in the spindowns, I remember being in Bills with him at about 7am knocking it in at craps and loving it

Betting the pass line and taking multiple odds behind, you can get the edge down pretty low. But that's not fun. Parlaying the hopping hard 8 is more fun, but the edge in that is considerably more.
I have no idea what any of that means, for me it's all about high fiving everyone and doing shots
Guess it's craps school for me before June then so I can at least get some idea what it's all about!!

Craps:
Betting the pass line is what most people do. You are betting you roll a natural (7 or 11) first roll and lose if you roll a crap (2,3,12) Any other number becomes the point.
At that stage, people place more chips "behind the line" which is also known as "taking odds" The odds bet here is vig-free, so by having the maximum lump there allowed, you dilute the vig of the pass line bet and have a decent bet.
However, there's not much hi-5'ing on that, so people start "betting the numbers"
For example, you can bet the 8. You win if an 8 comes up, lose if the 7 comes up, but don't lose of anything else comes up. So people tend to bet lots of numbers hoping for an action roll. The 8 pays 7/6 but is actually a 6/5 shot, so you take the worst of it, but not too bad. Likewise with the other numbers, (6 is the same as the
5&9 pay 7/5 but are 3/2 shots so a bit worse vig still. 4 and 10 in Vegas pay 9/5 about a 2/1 shot, which is fugly vig. However, above $25 you can "buy the number" and get paid 2/1 on it with 5% vig. On a bet of $25, the vig would be $1.25, but as they don't have that denomination, it only costs you a dollar - so 'not bad' vig again. Slightly more fun, more rolls give you wins, you can press up the winnings and get a nice freeroll going. Medium-bad bets and medium fun.
For the easily bored, all the 1-roll proposition bets are in the middle of the table. You can either hop a number (predict the exact dice on the next roll) or bet that the next roll will be 2,3,11 or 12 (horn bet) or bet just the 12 for example if that is too boring. You can also bet numbers 'the hard way' so the hard 8 is a bet that the 8 is rolled 4+4 before either a 7 is rolled or another 8 combo is rolled. For the thrill seekers, ask the dealer to parlay any winnings, and whatever you win rides on the next roll. So a $5 bet on 12 would return ~$150 (odds of rolling it are 35/1 so figure the vig..) and if you parlay it, (and it hits) you are looking at $4500. faster, more fun, and very very bad bets. But if you are $4500 in the hole from poker, you aren't going to get out of it betting $5 on the pass line all night...
So, parlaying the hoping hard 8 would be a 1-roll bet that the next roll is a double 4. If so, the winnings are re-invested that the next roll is also a double 4. Pull it off and watch $5 turn into $4500.

Used to love craps at Rainbow casino, Brum. 1 rainy October night back in the 90's after doing my nuts at Roulette I borrowed a mates last tenner and spun it to £3k+ in an hour. Didn't have a clue what I was doing.
Pit boss said it would have been 10k if I did.

when I was at home for xmas, I played roulette and won a decent chunk.
I was then persuaded to play craps for the first time ever, even though I had no idea what I was doing.
At first, I started losing at a decent clip, but then it was my turn to roll, and I remembered that Lil Dave demands high morale for craps.
I snap ordered two large rum and cokes and 4 shots, and flicked the dealer £25 to tell me what to bet and started betting all over the shop. Instantly roll in a natural and remember that I need chanting for proper moral. Damn, we were out of Americans and no-one else wanted to chant or jump up and down, so I decided to do it extra loud because I knew I couldn't let morale fall. I didn't even know if I wanted a 7, but I was chanting for one (I didn't, I think?) and then proceeded to go on a nice little tear. Everytime the dealer wanted to pay me out he mumbled something about 'pressing', so I did that because I felt that must be good morale, less a tip for the dealer, and started flicking in bets on the numbers as well.
Very fun game, I'm not really sure I understand it, but I did have a £1k swing at it (all winnings from roulette being lost swinging to £400 profit) by the time I'd stopped, plus countless shots and rum and cokes.
Point of the story: I can confirm that #highmorale is required for craps!

Got rid of the "happy Dice" table there unfortunately
Again, any idea why they got rid of this? When I went to Gala, it was always very popular and must have made them a lot of money.
