For a kid of 6-10, you can have a decent Vegas, water park, roller coasters, shows, hotels, stuff to do, nice pool areas (some hotel pools are baaaad for kids)

For a kid of 14-16, struggling to think of a worse destination.

Think Simon hits the nail on the head there (ldo pretty standard for him)

My Son is 8 and abso loves Vegas, has been several times. He loves the pools, loves the rides, adventuredome etc. Fairs at various casinos, been to several shows, dolphins, shark reefs etc. Loves it everytime.

Once he becomes a teenager he can stay at home with his grandad lol

Probs a bit easier for me as the mrs isn't really a gambler and the mother in law comes too

Yeah, if my parents had taken me to Vegas when I was a teenager, it's safe to say there would have been murders!

Slot machines everywhere, but I get a burger and some candyfloss...

Agree with most of the above, shops, buffets, shows, rides, lights, pools all good for young kids.  We also went to Santa Monica and Disneyland after which were both big hits too.

Guess the older they are it depends on the teenager: Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Red Rock, and Zion National Park are all near enough.  There is a trampoline place, a waterpark, cinemas, shops again, or you can take them somewhere and leave them sat on a beach in Spain, or with their tab/console and fk off down the pub.  Dunno, holidays with teenagers seem a lot of trouble wherever you go?

I'm writing a 6 part series for those who have never been to Las Vegas before, just the basics, cradle to grave, of a Las Vegas trip, & how you go about it.

There's a little "Tale from the Table", too, just to un-dull it a bit. Hopefully.

No spam, but it is on Sky Poker.

Parts 2-6 will be published at timely intervals. Or when I've written them, whichever falls soonest.

Loving the guide Tony, can't wait for the next installment, please remember to post another link on here when its up.

Appreciate all the comments & feeback guys, thanks for being gentle with me, I'm not a Travel Writer, but the job sort of landed on my desk, so I gave it a shot. Now I'm trying to Tweet it like billy-o, because the idea is to get "clicks", & I'm not so hot on how Twitter works. (I don't use  useFacebook). I only discovered why people use hashtags in Tweets an hour ago, after doing a bit of belated research into how to use Twitter. Apparently, we add #poker at the end & it somehow finds poker players. I added #Vegas, too, & that attracted some clicks, including one from, perish the very thought, "Vegas Strip Clubs", marv.

I did @TripAdvisor, @British Airways & @VirginAtlantic, too, just to see what happened.

Anyway, it exceeded my wildest hopes, I got more unique clicks in the 12 hours it has been up than any piece of Content I've ever done before. Result, that. I just have to do Parts 2-6 now, which I'm dreading, but I'll give it a go. Part 2 was intended to be the actual journey, but I think I maybe ought to do "what hotel?" next.

@Andrew. Lip-balm? Really? Never heard that one before, but I'm not a lip-balm kinda guy. I had thought of discussing the various ointments I use, but it felt a step too far.

@chompy. A humidifier? Really? Never used one, don't know anyone who does, or why they would need to. My Vegas hotel rooms have one function only, for 6 hours per night, & that's sleeping, & I don't waste a second of that time. Get in bed, head hits pillow, zonk.

Anyway, thank for the feedback.

You should inform the people how to order a cup of tea in Vegas. Great fun. One barrista gave me one with steamed milk and, when I politely enquired as to what in all that was holy he had done to my tea, I got the response, "It's a hot tea latte". Of course it is. Now make me a proper drink.

That was somehow bettered by the girl who asked me whether I wanted hot water with it.

There was one waitress in Bellagio who made me repeat my order 'Strawberry Julius' over and over again because she loved my accent so much.

That's the 'Hugh Grant Factor' right there.

But yeah - on the tea front, you have to talk them through it step by step like someone on their first driving lesson.

When I want something, I use my colinfirthiest English accent and use English phrases they don't have over there.

Instead of "Hi, can I get a diet coke?", try "Hello there. [ pause. Wait for them to realise you're English. Smile] May I have a can of diet [enunciate the T] coke, please?"

They love it.

Aw, I was looking forward to you talking about the plane!
I hate flying and have never been long haul, but I was sure with your enthusiastic style you'd convince me it was going to be the best fun ever :-)

Oh no, don't you worry, you WILL get chapter & verse about the flight. Model of plane, variant, how many wings (approx), the whole works. But it will include one great tip about the flight, I promise.

Could just take a pack of PG Tips with you then try and buy a kettle when you get there. Trying to buy normal milk over there on the other hand....
