There is still a way to earn miles for HMRC spend for free. I had a Curve card when they first came out but cancelled it when they dropped support for Amex.

https://www.headforpoints.com/2018/01/22/you-can-still-pay-hmrc-visa-mastercard-no-fee/

I’ve just set up and ordered one of these cards I will let you know if it works on hmrc   !
The cards turned up today so I’m coming to test it   !
Thanks Grant

My card has also turned up, works fine, only issue is the spending limits, £2k per day, £5k per month, says that this increases over time, but not sure if they will 50x them for me!  Cheesy

    £200 cash withdrawal per day
    £10,000 yearly (rolling 365 days)

Curve limits will increase over time as you cultivate a spend history with us and pass our account risk checks.

Enhanced limits for Curve Debit users are:

£20,000 spend per month (rolling 30 days)

2500 miles when you spend £60 on Lego Super Hero boxes at Tesco Direct. Spend £600, resell through ebay and Amazon and the cost per mile would probably be pretty good.

6000 miles when you rent a car for 2 days, can probably get that for around £60. https://flyingclubhub.virgin-atlantic.com/offers/grab-6000-miles-avis-car-hire

3000 miles for new customers when you buy a case from Virgin Wine, start from £65.

6000 miles for opening a Virgin Money S&S ISA. Either £2500 lump sum for 12 months or 6 x £100 monthly direct debits to get the miles.

Should see you through until the dinner break of a home game Grin

Curious to know people's thoughts on this one - if you were going to Vegas and could play just one tournament (smaller buyins of $100-$200 or so, assume most people would like to play the WSOP ME if possible!) which casino would you choose and why?

That's very subjective, but for me, in the $100 to $200 range, it would have to be Downtown, at Golden Nugget or Binions. My least favourite would be the quite dreadful Planet Hollywood, which is turgid in every way.

Be warned though, at the $100 to $200 level, the Reg Fee can be as much as 25% or 28%. Tough to beat the game at those levels, but best just to suck it up & enjoy the Vegas experience.

If you're just playing one, then I'd say the Wynn Saturday comp is probably the best one.

Supposed to be the nicest cardroom, and it has the lowest rake, too.

Depends on when you're going but the daily $125 at Aria has always been a favourite of mine. Structure is a familiar one to what we get in the £30-50 local evening comps (plenty of chips early, need to accumulate in the middle and win at flips at the end).

Think they run it 7pm ish during the series but do check that.

Very nice cardroom.
