So you work for the bastards that have meant I've been unable to get proper travel insurance in Colombia!
we've discussed this before... and you'll find a post on your blog telling you about a company you could have gotten insurance from. But i don't remember anyone commenting on it, not even you sir. (poor form)
Columbia - dangerous apparently... what did you think overall?

Just got messages including some homework. Generally v busy on work days ATM but will message you sometime tomoz.
yer no problems mate... grinding on own $$ i still have on stars from a while back.
S'up to you.
I'm pretty sure I'm either now a small loser at best, turning into 25nl break even player. Sucks because I think I can win and if i behaved all the time I play then I think I would be winning, but I still make mistakes and let myself get in the way.

Sorry met, get so many replies on that blog it's hard to keep on top of it...
I didn't think it was remotely dangerous at all. I didn't even see anyone argue let alone a fight or crime or anything. Everyone is so so friendly and happy, - just loved it here.
Obviously I was smart and didn't go to the dangerous parts. But that's the same in any country, there's areas of nottingham that I'm sweating driving through at night, hoping not to get stopped at traffic lights because its probably gg hub caps and 50/50 to get yr tyres slashed

Lil'Dave has put us in the Samurai $250 6max tourny on Black Belt Poker...
Could be interesting... somehow sat next to a mate - Adam Picken = joy.
Best of luck us with this freeroll, no blowup yet!

probably a novicely embarassing question and its never bothered me but i saw a lady do it last week.
if you are in a pot and it goes to the river where you show your cards and you show yours and the other player mucks...can you make the player or dealer show you what was mucked...are you entitled to see their cards?
ilike i say i saw a lady do it and the dealer turned them over...just wasn't sure on whether he should have.

You are entitled to ask, smurfy, & the Dealer must oblige if requested, but it'd show a distinct lack of class if you did.

Well yes, but she won the hand, & it's a bit low to then embarrass your oppo by asking to see the mucked hand. I know one or two that would, but thankfully they are far & few between. Win well, lose well, & all that.

no problems mate, i like to think im half decent with the generally 'agreed' rules of poker.
imo i think -
If you get to the river in NLHE and you are:
Out of position AND the last person to either bet or raise (aggressor)
then
you are supposed to show your hand first to claim the pot, if they can show a better hand or wish to show theirs, they are allowed to do so. They are allowed to muck their hand, however if you request to see it (and you are allowed) then they must show their hand.
This is often seen as 'bad etiquette' and many players do not agree that you do this without a very good reason (the rule is to prevent collusion).
Out of position BUT not the aggressor
then
if the river is checked by you and your opponent it depends on the house rules..
Some dictate you must show as you both checked the river.
And vice versa...
make sense?

There are times I've asked because the 'person' is new to me and the information of "how did I possibly win when called" in this hand is valuable. But as Lil'D said a while back a lot of people won't know how to use the information they get anyways.
However I think you also need to realise that if YOU ask to see the hand - it is live.
If someone else at the table asks to see the hand - it will be made 'dead' first.
I have seen someone ask to see a hand for it to turn out to be better and the pot then gets shipped to the opponent..... be wary.

Well this is embarrasing....
We ended up giving all our chippies to Adam Picken to our direct right after .....
wait for it....
5bt bluff shoving
pre for 9000 chippies - avg was 7.4k.
[ ] went well
[X] he had a pair
[ ] we had an over
[ ] he had KK/ AA
[X] he flopped
draw as well
feeling a little horrid about it now, but in the silliest way this will sound.
UP to THAT specific spot, I think I played really, really well. Chuffed with my performance and hand reading/ adjusting etc.. and feel that I let Dave down with a 'blowup'.
Feel same as I did when I lost Persaud's £200 in The Vic, I know he staked me knowing im not perfect, and i blew up... but just want to give him his money back.
sigh.....

On plus side
Lil'D has a horse with a lot of chips and is currently 4/20 with a chance to go for a run.
Hope the boys do a good one, would be sweet to see Adam win it.

thanks for the info. i would not have realised it was bad manners to be honest when she did it and on this occasion the other player didn't complain. Never done it myself but i could see now how it could be done to irk someone or get info on what they call/raise you with.
no plans to ask now i kknow its bad manners

Good man, you get the drift.
Incidentally, I would not complain if villain asked to see, not at all - it IS his right - but I'd swerve him at the break, & make a mental note.
