http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/world/jebel-ali/11:30/winner

The famous jebel Ali mile final up the punishing hill today.

Fav will be hard to beat won this last year trainer hit form now right price.

The second and third favs are both very good horses here but come here fresh. Not always an issue but this will be hard work and both normally improve slightly for the run.

I like SHAMAAL NIBRAS if Fred can get 12s each way for a small bet. Consistent fit hard to see beating the fav but has looked the type for headgear and Watson finally reaches for the visor (reportedly worked well with it last week in a private trial).

Incred.

VCdontbet seem to have changed all their prices?

It's almost like one of their loltraders is always reading TfT?

Got an idea for you...stop altering prices and telling punters the line has changed mid-bet. That a deal?

Afternoon Vc loltraders.  What is it like being so bad at your job and still getting paid and living in the sun?  Amazing life isn't it!

Must be time for another Mardle 'coup' to send them the wrong way and make it obvious they are reading us and moving without seeing any action.

They're getting a reputation for moving without action these days.

Met of mine tried to back Andy Carroll to make the England squad recently.

He got the 'Click-spinning clock-price has changed' number. They're the best at this.

I can confirm they had action before they moved.

Ugh. Another one bites the dust. UL Doobs.

Just reread that and noticed I can't even bet on virtual sports!   Had a hot tip for the 10.32 at Portman Park too.  ViclolWankers.

Chess update.

After a rest day on Wednesday, the main event in Wijk aan Zee resumed for round five of thirteen.

Our man, China's Ding Liren, faced 2015 World Cup winner Sergei Karjakin, who was the youngest person ever to be a Grandmaster at just 12 years 7 months old, 14 years ago.

A fiery game ensued but our man prevailed. Here's the crosstableagyer five rounds:

Thanks Tal.

Some detail on this please?

"A fiery game ensued...."

Was it like all out attack, 4-3-3, rush goalie or similar?

The chess equivalent of that is the expression "fire on board". It was really a very complicated position, where both players were pressing for a win. A bit like the Arsenal Liverpool game last week, where neither side is bothering much with defence.

Here's Ding and Karjakin just before the game started:

The players (as is required at all levels of chess in the laws of the game for anything other than quick games) keep a record of all the moves played in the game. At the start, they'll be filling in the basic details like the players' names, the event, the date, the board they are on and so on.

Here is the scoresheet of one of the most famous (in chess circles anyway) games: Byrne v Fischer:

And one of Fischer playing Spassky in an Olympiad

As you'll see at the bottom, at the master level, it is customary for players to sign each others' scoresheets and hand in a copy (generally, at that level, the scoresheets are carbon copy in two or three ply). This confirms the accuracy of the game as recorded. You'll see the board has wires coming out of it. There are pressure sensors in the board to feed into the computer that displays the game live for spectators around the world.

^^^

Awesome stuff Tal, thanks.

So a bit like Golf, where players sign their playing partner's card?

Do the 2 cards ever differ?

Buggered if I could read that annotation. Presumably, official records which go into databases are taken from the pressure sensor reporting?

Yes, it's like golf, although there's no penalty for duff recording. Just for not recording at all or for writing your move down before you play it.

Records would very rarely differ, especially at that level.

Not everyone's handwriting is as bad as Fischer's.

FYL, that's calamitous.

More seriously, you'd be amazed how many people bet, & how much, on "Virtual Sports". Some people NEED to bet on something every waking hour. Some even bet on Netball.

Which reminds me, it's the 2nd of the 3 England v Australia Netball Matches tonight.  I'll have a word with my Netball Perv contact.

The line for tonight is Australia -7.5. (quoted at 87/100).  Outright for the game, Australia are 1/5, England 100/30.

Anyone with Stan James or Corals should take the 3/1 () or 11/4 (Coral) about Parkers Poison in the 9.24 Romford tonight.

Ul Doobs, but VCdontbet prices are for information only, you're not supposed to back'em!

Exalted is a nonner at Wolves this evening, so we have a 30p Rule 4 on Moonbi Creek. We are now effectively on at 2.8-1. He's currently a 7-4 shot, so still on the right side, but I'd rather Exalted ran tbh. Ho hum.

Is Jakubiak lightning quick Dungers? Darragh sayed yesterday that Conor's potential replacement is every quicker.

Jakubiak is quick Chompy, but I'd be surprised if he is your "main" replacement for Washington as he will be a low cost loan option for rest of season.  Unless you are taking a punt and buying him outright I suppose.  I imagine you'll buy someone more proven and use Jakubiak to supplement.

He had a couple of League 2 loans last year which were a success  (although not spectacular).  He seemed a bit lightweight on the football league show, but he's had a year of development since then so that might make all the difference.

Has been doing well in the U21s and would apparently have made our bench against Swansea but for a virus.  Rangers also interested as he is a Scottish U19 international I think.

Anyone with Stan James or Corals should take the 3/1 () or 11/4 (Coral) about Parkers Poison in the 9.24 Romford tonight.

Hope some of you got on think he's 2/1 best now.

My other bets tonight are :

7.31 To Tone Liam - i've put him up before and followed him since, this again is another good chance to win, the dog will win sooner rather than later and taking the 11/4 with Corals now is a good bet.

8.18 Ilewin Sleepy - Running at his best and chance to go round handy in this 6 bend not the toughest contest - 4/1 will do.

8.34 Marmalady - one that you will know i've put up before last time over 6 bends however she cramped up when leading until the 5th bend at proper prices. She's out tonight and her trial says all is well, 7/2 available on this one, 10/3 elswhere.

9.06 Your Call - I'm putting this one in as after watching videos I can't help but think he will go round infront at the bend and that this week the 6 dog won't be as close to him to take the win away from him. It's a tough race and a less fancied selection but I do think the 9/2 is a fair price here.

9.24 Parkers Poison on at bigger prices now.

9.40 Special Guvna - Think the dog leads from red and that will be enough, 3/1 here.

9.56 Gortkelly Nidge - Winner last week for us, and has a great chance again, somehow just got 9/2 with Coral but 4/1 is out there aswell.

10.26 Coolavenny Ester - This one is a bit of a dart, in the sense that he's going to be a double figure price. Bet her last week and was so unlucky not to go round infront, rest is unknown. Think she has a chance again of going round infront, 10/1 is out there now however she will probably be bigger on the exchange come race time so i'd just keep an eye during the day and bet it before then if you see any blue on oddschecker.
