no bets completed yesterday

one piece of activity on our bets

Roma 4-1 Fiorentina

Roma are 3rd, 5 points behind Juve

--

Nico Rosberg: "We know it is close but we are not sure if we are ahead or behind" http://skysports.tv/PMEszc

--

So, it turns out Ferrari might have caught up after all... http://bbc.in/1RMQmuI

Vettel is 11/2 in a spot, still

You have mentioned Ferrari & Vettel several times, Tighty.

Is there a way we can get with them/him which affords us some value, & a season long sweat? If so, let's consider it. Peter will be along with a raft of season bets soon I expect, & it'd be good to build a little F1 2016 book.

Nirvana loves the sheer excitement of F1, too, he may have some suggestions.

We're on Rosberg

I expect Peter will say that we shouldn't do anything with Vettel as he expects Mercedes to dominate again. I just pop up the links for discussion

there are no sub-markets up yet, i have been looking every day. For example driver match bets wbhere we did well last year

I also wanted to look at possible markets ex-mercedes/ferrari. i had in mind that a team might overtake williams and be consistently third quickest.

I have also been looking out every day, not many markets out there just yet.

Although not covered by the media, this weekend is one of the biggest in the F1 season - this is where the teams all have a full data set from testing and will be going through every lap set in order to determine the strengths/weaknesses of their car, as well as the other team's machines too. Of course, I will be doing the same.

I do believe Mercedes are considerably ahead of the field here, but who knows what analysis will throw up, I'm working on it.

It's interesting that you said a team might overtake Williams for third. It looks incredibly tight in that area at the moment, and I think you could well be right also.

For those that can get on with PP: Vettel is 11/2, which is bang on Betfair, but they give you a third top 2.  So you are getting 11/6 on the top 2.  Backing Vettel each way in the circumstances looks like it must be a good bet.  This assumes Ferrari is close to Mercedes as the betting suggests and not some way behind (peter's view).   If you are going to back Vettel, you should definitely go each way.

I agree, if you are going to bet on Vettel (which is NOT something I recommend), then this is your best spot.

Curious about this Peter. Is this just all the teams lap & sector times from testing, or full telemetry (which each team I would assume keep as a closely guarded secret)?

What I use to place my bets is lap times & sector times, as well as environmental conditions (e.g. humidty, wind speed etc.) and video footage. All of which is publicly available. Would be insider trading otherwise!  Tongue

Morning Tighty.

Today in the rugby union premiership Sale host Harlequins. Sale are unbeaten at home in 11 months and this match does look like it will be a home win as Harlequins seem to travel like the French do. With Sale odds on to win I need to look deeper to find a bet i like. This season Sale have won 4 games at home by less than 12 points, had 2 draws, and stuffed London Irish by 28 points. As long s Harlequins don't capitulate, which they have done this season on several occasions, then I like Sale to win by this margin. We get 28/17 on a Sale win by  1-12 or 11/4 by 13+. Of the 2 I prefer the former and hope that Harlequins try harder than the French.

Suggest Sale to win by 1-12 points £15 @ 28/17 with 888.

By the way Tighty, even though the Salford lost to a last minute drop goal, I really liked the photo you put up.

can't do 888 at the moment

There's an American heavyweight bout between Luis Ortiz and Tony Thompson that I've got my eye on.

Ortiz is easily the best non champion out there and should be giving Thompson a straight up beat down from the opening bell. Stylistically he's like David Haye, a speed banger but with a legit 6'4” heavyweight frame.

Thompson is known for challenging Vladimir Klitschko at 41 years of age and then twice upsetting the great British hope David Price. He began looking real languid against Carlos Takam almost 2 years ago and now at 44 years old he looks painfully slow. Like Kevin Johnson against Anthony Joshua type inactive, beaten to every punch , moving underwater type slow.

I'd hoped Thompson would face Anthony Joshua as he'd be bludgeon within one and a half rounds. Ortiz may take a little longer to set up his power shots but it's hard to imagine any scenario where Thompson lasts the distance.

Rec £165 at 4/11 on Ortiz by stoppage with bald fred  http://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/luis-ortiz-v-tony-thompson/method-of-victory alternatively would take £140 @3/10.

he is 23

has been booked 17 times in 125 games and never sent off

so about 1 in 7 games.

11/4 looks short doesnt it?

accept adjusting to a new league

Paddy Power have gone money back as a free bet if your horse is second at any cheltenham festival race

now then, do we know anyone who can get us on?

perhaps the answer will come after the NLD.
