It was a bit of a slam dunk really as the people of the SW are so passionate about their rugby union. I can't say that Exeter are much beloved by me as they have always been the great rivals of Plymouth in both football and rugby. However as I have matured I am able to look at things more dispassionately and I have to admire what they have achieved and they do seem to have old school values. I played against their current coach and to put it politely he was certainly a feisty player.

Plymouth have a Rugby Union Club? Good grief. Never knew that. I attended Home Park on occasion whilst I was following Brentford FC. My abiding memory was that it was a bloody long way home when we lost.

Do you speak of this gent, Rob Baxter? Looks like a refined & gentle sort to me.

That's the man. Decent enough player but not the coolest temperment on a rugby pitch. I doubt if any of his players give him any backchat, well not twice anyway.

How did you handle him, by brute force, or brain?

I'd go with carefully

I suspect he used guile to outsmart him. But yes, carefully seems wise.

Did you get the lot at Hall Green dogs last evening?

No. One winner in a trio, which covered most of the night. Some funny results yesterday. The best of them was a race in which there was a non-runner, so only a 5 dog race. The trio paid £198.25. ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY SEVEN TO ONE. I appreciate another pound on it probably knocks sixty quid off it but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that. That was not the one I won, sadly.

Today, we have two mounts in the 2000 Guineas. Toronado, short priced but we get a Free £25 bet if Dawn Approach wins, & George Vancouver, at a very big price.

Were the latter to win, we'd scoop a bunch of money, but it'd scupper our Aiden O'Brien "No Classic Winners" bet at the first. I really like that Aiden bet, if we can get through the first 2 legs safely, today & tomorrow, we have a belter of a bet, & one that is easy to protect. It may just be the best recommend ever by Chompy, aside from Moldova to win the ESC.

In the snooker, we have a great shot with Walden, we effectively have 5/1 to our place bet for him to final. If Ronnie wins outright, we get our Selby money back, too. We are also on Trump, but he has been well below par overall.

We have a RU bet today, too.

Finally, a very big day for our various Football bets today.

The dark days of April are but a distant memory.

All good.

In my formative years at primary school we spent most playtimes playing British Bulldog, from which I learnt to dodge out of the way of people. That skill was imperative to my survival on the rugby field.

Best result today would be for Toronado to scoot up, which Hughesy thinks he will, and go 6/4 or so for the Derby.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but Ladbrokes have an offer on the 2000 Guineas tomorrow. If 15/8 fav Dawn Approach wins they will refund all bets as free bets upto the value of £25. Its available to all customers, but only on the first bet you place on this race(e.g. you cant back all the runners). T+Cs are on their website, but all seem fair enough.

They are 2/1 Toronado, currently 3.05 on betfair. Ive havent done the maths on this but reckon this is a fairly solid selection. Front page of the racing post, shows Hughes stating it could be the best its ever ridden and that he expects to win. I actually wouldnt be suprised to see if go off fav.

So I think £25 on Toronado at 2/1 to win the 2000 Guineas(3.50 Newmarket) is a fair investment with Laddies.

Thank you - confirmation below.

£25 @ 2/1, Ladbrokes, Toronado, 2000 Guineas. £25 Free Bet if Dawn Approach wins the race.

I can't get Ladbrokes beta site to work.  I select a bet and click place bet and absolutely nothing happens (others have reported the same problem).  I just deposited for this bet and then withdrew.  They are the worst run gambling company in the uk and how their ceo hasn't been sacked is a complete mystery.

Anyone know if the Laddies 2000 Gunieas offer is online only?

Morning Snowy.

It is open to everyone EXCEPT "Telephone Betting", I believe.

T & C 3 says.....

. Offer is available to new and existing shop, internet and mobile customers. Offer is not available to customers betting by telephone.

Full details are here....

Thanks.I'd imagine it doesn't stretch out to the Shops.

Daily Summary, 0955, Saturday May 4th

I had to search for the blue font yesterday for what seems the first time in ages, as we notched up a £26 profit on the day.

A Rugby League bet went south, when be backed the wrong one of two offered, but Tighty gave us a really incredible bet on the Local Elections which won hard-held for a £50 profit, giving us £26 nett profit on the day. There was only one downside to that bet.

A funny tweet the other day,

Farage is just Griffin in a smarter suit.

(Quite possibly saw it via rt from Channing)

Good spot Tighty.
