Just so we are all absolutely clear, this means I'm posting Strictly videos come September.

Cheesy

Need to post this one now, as Vincent and Flavia are leaving and won't be in the next series...

...and nor will Erin, nor (and don't tell Tighty)

Is there any reason we shouldn't back Libertarian for the Leger with Ladbrokes?  He looks a very likely runner, was staying on best at the end and has stamina in the pedigree.  Currently an absolute stand out with Ladbrokes at 8/1.  Best of the rest (6 bookies) is 5/1.

Suggest £30 e/w.

Cheers

CONFIRMATION ONLY

£30 EW @ 8/1, Ladbrokes, Libertarian, St Leger.

ON

01/06/2013 0000347 Single (each-way) 2 £60.00  Ladbrokes St Leger Ante Post  Libertarian  8/1

I don't like betting horses each way for races 3 months ahead.

Because you have very little idea of the shape of the race/betting market.

If I wanted to stake £60 on Libertarian at this stage at 8/1 (and it looks fair to me) I'd rather have it on to win.

There's loads of great opportunites to bet ew on horses on the day of the race when you KNOW the place part is value, why bet ew when there are loads more variables?

Yuh, with Camel defo. He's probably no shorter than evens to get to Donny at the mo, so why back him at 2/1 a place? I never bet each-way though, so am prob biased.

Sometimes in the week of the race, betting each way is fantasic value if a race is looking like cutting up badly- as Lord Bad Beat has pointed out on a couple of occasions. (The Giant Bolster springs to mind)

3 months before a race? Not for me.

 Just thought I'd post this...

It's always very important not to be results orientated.

There were three bets put up recently by Tighty, Doobs and Chompy that I personally think would all make the top ten TFT bets of all time. Only one of them actually won.

The O'Brien bet was amazing. Great spot.

The each-way in the Coronation Cup almost made me wish I was in the UK.

The win bet on the winner in the same race showed that odds-on can easily be value and those people who "never bet odds-on" are not doing it right.

Well played guys. Keep em coming.

Sorry I didn't come on at the time to offer encouragement for all three, was just a bit busy each time and read them when I was 10 pages behind on the thread and the moment had passed. At the time they all felt like triple maximums.

All noted, Neil. A shame you were busy at the time, as you know I listen, & can take a bollocking.

The O'Brien bet, yes, we had a good lump on, exactly as much as ther owner of the bet suggested. Such a clever bet, though, & it saitsfied the fun/sweat side, too.

The Coronation Cup.....well I like to lose graciously, & not chunter too much when things go wrong, but that was completely my fault. Tighty stuck it up @ 4/5 I think, (may have been 5/6), & Doobs popped Dunaden up at around 6/1. Then there was the debate about how the field would cut up, da de da.

So I had two "bet blind" suggestions, one of which was odds on, in what looked like being a short field.

Which one to follow?

I did somewhat meekly ask "can we back both?", but not with much conviction, & anyway, the value had gone by then.

Strange how long it has taken me to learn these basics. I'm actually reasonably bright (lol), but my problem is 40 years of mug punting means I find it hard to change my ways. It is like converting to billiards after a life time of snooker - it is just hard to think backwards, & start trying to go in off deliberately.

Needless to say, watching the Coronation Cup was somewhat painful for me.

Some proper comedy flaming may follow.

Don't watch it but...any views on the next Doctor?

As forward-thinking as the writers are, I can't help but think it's unlikely to be a woman.

Russell Tovey is well-known in the "cult" world from his role as George the werewolf in Being Human. He was one of the favourites last time but was beaten in 2008 by Matt Smith. He'd probably be a more vulnerable Doctor (his roles tend to go that way) and would offer a new angle for the writers.

Now for the betting bit.

He's 9/1 on betfair and 10/1 with Hills and Corals. New market by the looks of it on betfair, so I'm not sure how that works re "beating betfair".

Morning Mr T.

You will rarely see me put in a recommend for this, but today is the time to support the CESM's away from home. Widnes are hosting the Dragons and all the Widnes forum is gloom and doom and talking of a stuffing. Well I think that Widnes can keep it respectable, only once this season at home have they lost by 3 scores or more, but at the odds we get then Catalan to win by 1-12 points is the call.

If you get a moment later on watch some of the Moto GP from Italy, where Dani Pedrosa is just mesmeric.

Suggest £15 Catalan to win by 1-12 points @ 11/5 Paddy Power.

The final score was.......

32-32.

Bugger!

He was good in Being Human, I stopped watching at the end of season 3 when they all left and I'll have a bit of 10s Smiley

My flatmate likes it so I tend to see it as well.
In the last episode they had John Hurt and Richard E. Grant and I think they'd love to have some 'weighty' name take the role.
So I'd be looking for somebody who is a recognisable face and name but probably isn't doing a lot of work at moment. And it would probably help if they were a Doctor Who fan. Simon Pegg is a big sci fi fan but of course he's too busy in Hollywood. Someone like Stephen Fry although he probably is too busy. Jeremy Irons maybe.
I see Chiwetel Ejiofor is 2nd in the betting with Sky and Coral. Interesting if they went for a black guy. Idris Elba would be totally cool. That might be the 'wow' factor they will be looking for.
Having said all that, they'll probably just pick some guy we've never heard of. I think I might trawl around some Dr Who forums and see if there's anything interesting.

I wouldn't be touching anything @ ~10/1, that's for sure. There is no way you are getting anything approaching value unless you are in the know.

Was it Marky?
